Thomas E. “Tom” Burkhart, 86, of Marysville, passed away Monday evening, February 26, 2024, at Memorial Hospital of Union County.
One of fourteen children, Tom was born September 11, 1937, in Crestline to the late Henry C. and Catherine E. (Schauff) Burkhart. A graduate of Crestline High School, he worked for ITT as a project manager before becoming a paint coordinator for Honda Marysville. A longtime and faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, he was also very active with the Knights of Columbus. Community minded, he was a loyal volunteer for both the Marysville Food Pantry and Care Train of Union County for many years. He loved fishing up at Lake Erie with his children when his health allowed, and he reminisced about it often, wishing he could have retired up north. Kind hearted and friendly, Tom never knew a stranger, and he could make friends everywhere and anywhere he spent time. He simply loved people, and his attitude was infectious to those around him.
Tom is survived by his wife of 13 years, the former Jeanne L. McPeek; his children Lisa (Robert) Kolakowski of Milford Center, Allan (Tammy) Burkhart of Blacklick, and Scott (Amey) Burkhart of Columbus; grandchildren Kimberly, Samantha, Allison, Lance, Noah, and Maggie; great grandson Mason; siblings William (Barbara) Burkhart, James (Rose) Burkhart, Ernest (Linda) Burkhart, Mary Lou Marek, Gladys Burkhart-Henderson, Evelyn Buchanan, Theresa (Thomas) Fisher, and Irene( Dennis) Borgelt; several nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Along with his parents, Tom was also preceded by his first wife, Margaret Ann “Peggy” Burkhart, on April 7, 2007; siblings Charles H. Burkhart, Henry C. Burkhart Jr., Elizabeth Burkhart, Catherine Foreman, and Deacon Joseph Burkhart.
