According to Plain City Police Department reports:
An officer went to East Main Street in reference to a nuisance burn Apr. 24 at 8:51 p.m. Upon arrival, with Engine 261, the officer located the fire and made contact with the resident. The resident was advised that they were not permitted to burn trash within the village limits. The resident apologized and Engine 261 extinguished the fire without incident.
An officer responded to Dickens Lane in reference to a suspicious person/vehicle Apr. 25 at 9:24 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer observed the vehicle, a silver Toyota SUV. The officer made contact with the vehicle driver who advised she was cleaning out of her car while she was waiting to pick a friend up nearby. After deeming everything fine, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer observed a silver Cadillac sedan traveling southbound on U.S. 42 near North Chillicothe St. Apr. 25 at 8:18 p.m. The vehicle appeared to be traveling over the posted speed limit, which was verified by laser. The officer stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver. The officer had the K-9 complete an open-air search of the vehicle. The K-9 gave a positive alert to the front driver door. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, the officer did not locate any measurable amount of narcotics. The driver was given a verbal warning for speed.
An officer responded to a scam report on Lafayette-Plain City Road Apr. 25 at 3:10 p.m. The complainant was advised to report the issue to Facebook and also advised that his residence was not in Plain City jurisdiction, but the jurisdiction of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. The officer advised the complainant the report would be documented, but the complainant would need to speak with the Sheriff’s Office for any further action.
An officer was requested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office to assist a deputy on a traffic stop on U.S. 33 west of U.S. 42 Apr. 25 at 12:34 a.m. After assistance was no longer needed, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer spoke with a complainant at the entrance to the Darby Fields subdivision Apr. 26 at 8:09 p.m. The complainant said someone went through his vehicle that was parked in his driveway the previous night. The complainant provided the officer with a video of the people going through his car.
An officer went to Gay Street for a 911 follow-up Apr. 26 at 6:38 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the caller who said he dialed 911 accidentally. After deeming everything fine, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer went to East Main Street in reference to vehicle damage from hitting a pothole Apr. 26 at 5:55 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the complainant who told the officer she was driving her vehicle, a Ford sedan, eastbound on East Main St. and struck a large pothole causing her tire to go flat. The officer checked the location and observed a large pothole in front of 275 East Main. Photographs of the vehicle and pothole were taken. The officer notified the Street Department of the pothole and then returned to patrol.
An officer was flagged down on Red Knot Court by complainant in reference to suspicious circumstances Apr. 26 at 8:45 a.m. The complainant stated that it appeared that the glove box of her red Honda had been gone through. The complainant stated that nothing appeared to be missing but that she wanted to report the incident.
An officer went to Alderwood Circle in reference to a theft complaint Apr. 26 at 8:25 a.m. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the caller who stated that two handguns had been taken from the vehicle. The caller stated that her husband was unavailable and that he would be able to provide further information on the stolen firearms. The caller thanked the officer for the officer’s time and the officer returned to patrol. On 04/28/19, additional information regarding the stolen pistol’s serial number was received.
On Apr. 27 at 11:11 a.m., an anonymous caller stated an elderly couple was in a loud verbal argument at Richwood Bank. An officer then made contact with both subjects. The officer asked the male subject why they were arguing inside the bank. The male subject told the officer his wife suffers from Alzheimer’s and forgot who he was. The officer spoke with the female subject who showed no signs of distress and did not recall the incident. After deeming everything fine, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer was sent to East Main Street in reference to an overdue motorist Apr. 28 at 12:33 a.m. Upon arrival, the officer met with the caller who said her estranged husband left with their daughter around 7 p.m. and has not returned. The officer advised the caller that the officer would keep an eye out for them; however, the officer would not complete a missing person report at this time due to no known dangers for the child. The officer then returned to patrol. At 12:58 a.m., the officer observed that both subjects had returned home. The officer made contact with them at the residence and confirmed everything was okay.
An officer went to Maple Court in reference to an unruly juvenile complaint Apr. 29 at 9:21 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the caller who stated that her daughter had left the residence while she was gone. The caller also said that the subject was on diversion through Madison County and that she had a mandated curfew of 9 p.m. The officer advised the caller that the subject’s curfew would always be 9 p.m. due to her age. A short time later, officers were advised the subject arrived back home. The officers then met with the subject at her residence. The subject was advised of the proper curfew hours and to listen to her mother. Due to the subject being on a divergent program, this incident will be forwarded to the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office.
An officer went to Smucker Lane in reference to a solicitor’s complaint Monday at 4:38 p.m. The caller stated that a male subject was going door to door in the area trying to sell alternative electricity accounts. Upon arrival, the officer checked the area but was unable to locate the suspect. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer met a subject at the Friend Street police station Monday at 2:20 p.m. The subject requested a voucher to take to St. Joseph to get cash assistance. The subject checked negative NCIC and was given a voucher to take to St. Joseph’s.
An officer met with a complainant on North Avenue Monday at 2 p.m. The complainant was cleaning out the vacated apartment and found a bag of prescription pills belonging to another subject. The officer took the bag and will attempt to contact the owner of the pills to determine why the pills were at that apartment. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer conducted a routine registration check on a 2014 white Chevy Camaro Monday at 3:31 p.m. The officer then learned that the registered owner, Destiny Mulkey, was a suspended driver. Mulkey was issued a citation for non-compliance suspension and no valid operator’s license. She was released on scene and her vehicle was towed to the PCPD impound lot. The officer was then able to return to patrol.
