Two topics of discussion have been continued in Jerome Township.
Trustees held a special meeting on Tuesday to discuss progress on the Rolling Meadows housing development and the rezoning of a new brewery located on the eastern side of the township.
“The trustees are requesting more information from the applicant,” said Mark Spagnuolo, the zoning officer in the township. “There are two parcels to the south of the golf course that they have questions about. They are also looking to get some legal documents from the developer.”
Virginia Homes, the company looking at the area between Industrial Parkway and Crottinger Road, wants to rezone 210 acres of land to a planned development residential district that would include building homes around the existing golf course.
At previous meetings, residents expressed concern over the plans stating that building homes near the sites of two landfills could be hazardous.
According to the developers, they hired Geotechnical Consultants out of Westerville to look into the environmental impact of the landfill sites and found no extensive cause for concern.
Trustees are requesting copies of those studies.
A decision on the rezoning has been continued to Tuesday, June 25.
The other rezoning conversation dealt with the incoming Brewery 1487, which will go into the former NAPA building on Industrial Parkway.
“As we move forward, businesses are always evolving and this place will be a brewery, it will sell beverages and it will have light food service,” Spagnuolo said. “What exactly it should be classified as is not as obvious. So we’re trying to find the right zoning fit for them and the township.”
The land is currently zoned commercial but the township is looking to rezone it to regional retail.
Spanuolo said the trustees wanted to have a conversation with their legal counsel before the final decision.
The rezoning was continued to the next regular trustee meeting on Monday.
