Officers responded to a possible domestic dispute on North Avenue at 11:58 p.m. May 3. Upon arrival, officers spoke with both parties, who agreed to separate for the evening and remain calm.
An officer found a garage door open on Alderwood Circle at 2:37 a.m. May 3. The officer made contact with the homeowner, who advised he left it open by mistake. The garage door was closed.

An officer responded to a driving complaint on East Main Street at 1 a.m. May 3. After a traffic stop was initiated, the officer determined that the driver was not impaired and was advised to pay attention while driving.
Officers responded to a possible domestic dispute on East Main Street at 9:56 p.m. May 2. The parties advised they were having a verbal argument but were now calm. Parties agreed to stay calm.
Officers responded to a report of a female not breathing on Stenner Court at 3:37 p.m. May 2. Upon arrival, officers found an 85-year-old woman deceased. The Madison County Coroner was notified and the investigation is ongoing.
Officers responded to a complaint of a domestic dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend on Wesley Avenue at 10:41 p.m. April 30. Upon arrival, officers heard several gunshots. Subsequently, James LeMaster, 36, of Plain City, was charged with felonious assault and domestic violence. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
Officers were requested to assist the Madison County Sheriff’s Office with an alarm drop at Firepunk Diesel on Lafayette-Plain City Road at 7:57 p.m. April 30. Once their assistance was no longer needed, they returned to patrol.
An officer and a keyholder responded to an alarm drop at ER Autocare on South Jefferson Avenue, checked the business and determined everything to be fine at 11:23 a.m. April 30.
An officer responded to a non-injury hit-skip crash on East Main Street at 11:06 a.m. April 30. The caller advised a red Dodge Caravan struck a road closed sign on East Main Street at Route 161 East and left the scene heading eastbound. A short time later, the vehicle and its owner were located. Subsequently, Richard Smith, 80, of Plain City, was issued a citation for failure to reasonable control.
An officer responded to a complaint of a suspicious circumstance at Dollar General on South Jefferson Avenue at 10:23 a.m. April 30. Upon arrival, there were several customers in the parking lot waiting for the store to open. A short time later, an employee arrived to open the store.
An officer responded to a parking complaint on South Chillicothe Street at 10:15 a.m. April 30. Contact was made with the vehicle owner, who moved the car without incident.
An officer responded to a residential lockout on Maple Street at 7:47 a.m. April 30, located a door that was unlocked and later the resident found her keys.
Officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle that was parked at Daily Needs Assistance on West Main Street after hours at 12:39 a.m. April 30. Subsequently, Kevin Frey, 31, of Plain City, was arrested and transported to Tri-County Regional Jail for obstruction.
An officer responded to a parking complaint of a vehicle parked at the Plain City Animal Hospital on West Main Street for several days at 3:43 p.m. April 29. The officer attempted contact with the vehicle owner but was unsuccessful. A short time later, the vehicle had been moved.
An officer was requested to assist the Madison County Sheriff’s Office with a mental status change on Smith-Calhoun Road at 2:36 p.m. April 29. Once the officer’s assistance was no longer needed, he returned to patrol.
An officer responded to a 911 follow-up on North Avenue at 7:48 p.m. April 28. The officer was advised the call was accidental. The caller appeared to be intoxicated and was at the location to pick up personal items. The caller was released to a family member.
An officer responded to the intersection of West Main Street and US 42 North on a possible injury accident at 3:44 p.m. April 28. Subsequently, Alyssa Miller, 16, of Plain City, was issued a citation for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead (ACDA) and for being a juvenile traffic offender. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
An officer responded to a driving complaint on Maple Street at 3 p.m. April 28. Upon further investigation, Donald Burchett, 66, of Plain City, was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI), OVI-refusal and driving upon sidewalks. A short time later, Burchett was released to a family member.
An officer was requested to assist the Madison County Sheriff’s Office with an arrest on Smith-Calhoun Road at 12:01 a.m. April 28. Once the officer’s assistance was no longer needed, he returned to patrol.
An officer responded to a non-injury hit-skip crash on Washington Avenue at 12 a.m. April 28. The caller advised a white pickup truck with a black box trailer struck a fence and stop sign, then left the location. Officer canvassed the area but was unable to locate the vehicle. Public Works was contacted about the damaged stop sign, and the owner of the fence was notified. An incident report was taken.
During a traffic stop at 8:16 p.m. April 27, the driver, Brandy Rayburn, 37, of Plain City, was issued citations for license forfeiture suspension and driving without an operating license. Subsequently, Rayburn was released to a friend and the vehicle was towed to the Plain City Police Department Impound Lot.
An officer responded to a report of a driving complaint on Route 161 East at 1:18 p.m. April 27. The vehicle was located and the driver, Manuel Montoya, was issued a citation for driving upon street posted as closed for repair.
An officer responded to a gas leak on Carriage Drive and assisted the fire department at 11:45 a.m. April 27. Once the officer was no longer needed, he returned to patrol.
An officer responded to a report of a parked vehicle at a construction site on Madison Way at 2:15 a.m. April 27. Contact was made with the driver, who advised he was an employee and he was working.
An officer responded to a report of a parked vehicle at the Plain City Municipal Building on Village Boulevard at 11:46 p.m. April 26. Contact was made with the driver, who was advised he couldn’t park at the location for an extended period of time. The vehicle left the location without incident.

Contact was made with the driver, who was advised he couldn’t be at the business. The driver was warned for trespassing and left the location without incident.
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person being in the Daily Needs Assistance building on West Main Street after hours at 10:20 p.m. April 26. Officers checked the building but were unable to locate anything out of the ordinary.
An officer responded to a report of a parked vehicle at Total Tennis Inc. on West Bigelow Avenue after hours at 10:07 p.m. April 26. Contact was made with the driver, who was advised he couldn’t be at the business. The driver was warned for trespassing and left the location without incident.
An officer found a rear door open on a parked vehicle at Pastime Park on North Chillicothe Street at 2:45 a.m. April 26. Contact was made with the owner, who advised it was left open accidentally and closed the door.
