According to Plain City Police Department reports:
On May 21 at 10:07 a.m., an officer responded to U.S. 42 North as a backup for UCSO deputy who had a vehicle stopped for traffic violations.
Officers responded to Shepper Avenue in reference to a domestic dispute May 22 at 11:17 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the caller who advised his daughter and her boyfriend were in a verbal dispute. The caller advised he called so the incident wouldn’t get out of hand. Officers made contact with both parties who advised the altercation was only verbal. After speaking with both parties they seemed calm and the situation was diffused. After deeming everything fine, the officers returned to patrol.
On May 22 at 2:58 p.m., the officer received a referral from Columbus Police regarding a possible GSI incident that occurred on Wellsley Way sometime between April 2009 and April 2010.
An officer was dispatched to West Main Street in reference to a possible injury crash May 23 at 6:16 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer observed a blue Jeep that was on its side facing eastbound. The medic then advised the officer that the other vehicle involved, a grey Chevrolet Silverado, was parked in the lot of Jan and Tony’s. Medical personnel advised the officer neither party was injured. The officer then made contact with the driver of the Silverado, Kory Zook. Zook advised the officer he was taking a left hand turn out of Jan and Tony’s lot when he struck the rear end of the Jeep. The officer then spoke with the driver of the Jeep who confirmed what Zook had said. A towing company was then contacted to remove the Jeep from the scene. Zook was issued a traffic citation for duty to yield from any place other than a roadway.
An officer met with complainant at the police department who advised the officer that he had located a small brown Chihuahua in his neighbor’s yard May 23 at 3:30 p.m. No one in the area knew to whom the canine belonged. The officer was able to determine to whom the canine belonged. The canine owner was contacted and arrived a few minutes later to retrieve the canine. The canine owner was also warned for the animals running loose. After determining everything to be fine, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer met with complainant at the police department who wanted some information on dealing with a family member that may be having a behavioral emergency May 24 at 4:40 p.m. The officer discussed the complainant’s options and advised the complainant that given the examples, the officer could not force subject to seek help. It was determined that no crime was being committed by subject.
An officer responded to West Main Street in reference to a parking complaint May 24 at 4:44 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the caller who advised that a black Cadillac SUV was parked in one of Plain City Computers Parking spaces for 45 minutes. The officer later made contact with the vehicle owner. The vehicle owner apologized for parking in the spot. The officer advised the vehicle owner to not park in any of PC Computers spaces unless he was a customer. The vehicle owner moved the vehicle without incident. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer met with a subject at the police department in reference to a civil standby May 24 at 5:55 p.m. The subject advised that he was waiting for his ex-daughter-in-law to bring his grandson to the police department for a custody exchange. The officer stood by and the ex-daughter-in-law never arrived. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer responded to North Avenue in reference to a missing female May 24 at 9:37 p.m. The caller stated that a neighbor informed him that his girlfriend had just been arrested near their residence. The caller requested to speak with an officer to see if she was in custody. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the caller and his girlfriend inside the business. The caller stated that he had checked the area and located his girlfriend as she was walking. The caller apologized and stated that his neighbor must have been mistaken. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer was dispatched to the area of South Jefferson Avenue on a 911 wireless May 24 at 7:43 a.m. Madison County Dispatch advised that the call plotted in the area there. Upon arrival, an officer was unable to locate the source of the call. The officer requested dispatch attempt to contact the number back to get a better location. Dispatch later advised the caller was at her residence at Plain City Georgesville Road and there were no issues there. The officer requested dispatch to contact Madison County Sheriff’s Office and advise them. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer was on patrol when officer observed a silver Lexus sedan traveling northbound on U.S. 42 near West Avenue May 25 at 11:50 p.m. The officer then learned the vehicle had an expired registration. The officer then initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver was advised of the violation and stated she was borrowing the vehicle from her boyfriend’s father. The driver advised she had a new license plate, however, she did not put them on yet due to the screws being rusted. While speaking with the driver, the officer could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a probable cause search the officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the safe inside the vehicle. The safe was confiscated along with the key, from the key ring. The driver was given a warning for expired tags and advised PCPD would make contact with her after a search warrant was executed on the safe. The officer was also given a warning for curfew. The officer then returned to patrol. The officer made contact with the driver’s mother, advising her of this incident.
An officer was dispatched to Carriage Drive attempting to locate a vehicle owner for Columbus Police Department May 1:12 a.m. Dispatch advised they found a 2003 RV in the roadway on the east side of Columbus. An officer made contact with the subject’s son who advised the vehicle was sold several years ago and provided a contact number for vehicle owner. This information was forwarded to CPD. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer met with subject at the police department in reference to a civil standby May 25 at 2 p.m. The subject advised that he was waiting for his ex-daughter-in-law to bring his grandson to the police department for a custody exchange. The subject’s ex-daughter-in-law showed up and custody was exchanged without incident.
An officer observed a silver Dodge pick-up truck traveling northbound on South Chillicothe Street near Main Street. The vehicle did not appear to have a registration. The officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the vehicle operator/owner, Joseph Carter. Carter was issued a traffic citation for no valid OL and failure to transfer registration. Carter was given a verbal warning for cracked windshield and failure to display. Joseph’s vehicle was towed to the PCPD impound lot. Carter was given a courtesy ride to McDonald’s.
An officer was dispatched to the area of Lantern Lane in reference to several parking violations May 25 at 4:10 p.m. The anonymous caller stated that there was a party going on and several vehicles were blocking the mailboxes. The officer patrolled the area and observed several vehicles, from Carriage Drive to South Chillicothe Street that were parked very close to the mailboxes. The officer made contact with the USPS of Plain City and was advised that they had already completed the route for Lantern Lane and did have some issues accessing mailboxes. They also advised that they would try again next week, but were done for today. Due to these circumstances, the officer returned to patrol.
