According to Plain City Police Department reports:
An officer responded to North Avenue in reference to a suspicious person complaint May 26 at 3:47 a.m. The caller stated that a group of people had been in front of the apartments for some time and appeared to be suspicious. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with subject. The subject stated that he had just been talking with several of his friends. After determining everything checked okay, the officer returned to patrol.
On May 26 at 4:03 a.m., a UCSO deputy responded to Santa Barbara Drive in reference to an injury accident. The deputy made contact with the caller who stated that while on U.S. 42 in the area of Plain City, several deer ran into the roadway in front of his tan Ford Taurus. The caller advised that he swerved to avoid the deer causing his vehicle to go into the ditch. The caller stated that he called a friend to drive him home since the vehicle was stuck and his ankle was injured. The vehicle was located on the west side of U.S. 42 at North Chillicothe Street. The deputy stated that he observed no signs of impairment while speaking to subject. The vehicle was secured at the scene.
An officer was dispatched to East Main Street in reference to a possible domestic May 26 at 7:59 a.m. Upon arrival, the officer met with the male subject who was sitting on the front porch there. The male subject advised he had yelled at his girlfriend. The male subject advised she’s drunk and fell in their bedroom pulling the curtains down which caused the television remote to fall on his head. They both agreed to sleep in different rooms until they sobered up. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer was on patrol when the officer was dispatched to McKitrick Park in reference to drug activity May 26 at 6:09 p.m. Dispatch advised that the officer from ODNR was out with Brian Cain and advised he had marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with ODNR officer who handed PCPD officer an evidence bag containing marijuana inside a green plastic container and a multi-colored glass bowl with marijuana residence. The PCPD officer made contact with Cain, his daughter, Sydney Hallam, and her boyfriend. Cain advised he was about to start smoking marijuana when the ODNR officer caught him. Another PCPD officer arrived on scene a short time later and advised Cain’s daughter Hallam had warrants out of Madison County.
The Union County Sherriff’s Office, in reference to livestock in the roadway on Lafayette-Plain City Road, requested an officer May 26 at 7:16 p.m. After assistance was no longer needed, the officer then returned to patrol.
An officer was dispatched to North Avenue in reference to a domestic dispute May 26 at 8:52 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer learned the subjects are in the process of a divorce and male subject would not let female subject inside of the residence because he wanted his car keys. The officer then learned the female subject took the male subject’s car keys and drove to another subject’s house and left them there. The female subject advised the officer she didn’t want to go look for the keys and that she will wait to give the keys back until they go to divorce court. The male subject was advised to let the female subject inside of the residence and was advised of his legal options. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer was flagged down by complainant in front of East Main Street May 26 at 2:28 a.m. The complainant stated that his wife had taken his Buick. The complainant requested the officer made contact with her via public service and see if she was willing to return the vehicle. The officer then made contact with the female subject via public service. The female subject stated that she was having relationship issues with complainant and she would not be returning to the residence today. The officer advised complainant of this and returned to patrol.
The officer was met at the Police Department by complainant May 27 at 9:59 p.m. The complainant stated that she was walking past the subject’s house on Gay Street when the subject came out on the sidewalk and began verbally harassing her. The officer met the subject at her home and she advised the officer that she had been at work from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and was able to provide corroboration. The officer was not able to contact the complainant in order to confront the complainant on her story due to the fact she did not have a cell phone and she was homeless. The officer then returned to patrol.
Officers were requested by Madison County Sherriff’s Office to check for a suspicious vehicle at Old Route 161 East May 27 at 8:30 p.m. The caller advised the vehicle was an Enterprise rental truck that kept driving up and down the roadway slowly. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. Officers then returned to patrol.
An officer responded to East West Avenue in reference to a domestic dispute May 28 at 6:36 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the caller who stated that he was in a domestic dispute with his live-in girlfriend, Lindsey Chamblin. Upon further investigation, Chamblin was placed into custody for domestic violence and transported to Tri-County Regional Jail. The officer provided the caller with a VOCA packet and issued a temporary protection order. Due to a child being present during the dispute, a copy of this report will be forwarded to the Madison County Department of Jobs and Family Services. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer responded to Foster Street in reference to a parking complaint May 28 at 6:25 p.m. The village administrator received a complaint that the subject was living inside a disabled white van parked in front of the listed location. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the subject who stated that she was not living in the van. She stated that she would make sure to have the van fixed and properly registered so it could be driven. The officer then made contact with the property owner. The officer advised property owner of the possible consequences if the van was not removed. The property owner stated that she would make sure the issue was resolved. The officer then returned to patrol.
On May 28 at 4:52 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a possible injury crash on Route 161 East at Old Route 161. Upon arrival, the officer found that the crash was outside the Plain City corporation limits. The officer then requested dispatch to advise Madison County. The officer stood by until assistance was no longer needed. The officer then returned to patrol.
On May 28 at 2:38 p.m., an officer was dispatched West Main Street in reference to a loose dog complaint. The anonymous complainant advised that a white dog was wandering around the building there and had defecated in the yard directly east of that property. The officer then met with the owner of the dog who was trying to locate the dog.
An officer was dispatched to Mike’s Pit Stop in reference to a patron that pumped gas and did not pay May 28 at 1:40 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the caller, an employee of Mike’s Pit Stop, who advised that a subject in his 70s or 80s, driving a maroon Honda CRV, had pulled up to pump one. The employee had approved the pump and then the subject tried to swipe his credit card, but it did not process. After the subject left, the employee realized that the transaction had failed.
An anonymous passerby met an officer on station May 28 at 12:55 p.m. He advised that he had found an Ohio license plate lying in the road on North Chillicothe near Noteman Road. The officer took the plate and attempted to contact the owner via phone. On 5/29/2019 the owner arrived on station and retrieved his license plate.
An officer observed a white Cadillac SUV pulling a black Utility Trailer traveling westbound on West Main Street near South Jefferson Avenue May 29 at 8:05 a.m. The trailer had no operational taillights or brake lights. The officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the vehicle operator, Christopher Lambert, and his passenger. After further investigation, it was found neither of them had a valid driver’s license.
An officer responded to Olive Branch Drive at the request of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office May 30 at 5:10 p.m. MCSO advised a young boy had wandered to the listed location and was unable to communicate with anyone to tell them where he lived. Once assistance was no longer needed, the officer then returned to patrol.
An officer was dispatched to West Main Street in reference to a deceased feline in the yard of the listed location May 31 at 4:23 p.m.
An officer responded to North Chillicothe in reference to a loose dog May 31 5:49 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the caller who advised the officer he located a white/yellow lab running loose near his house. Having prior knowledge who the dog belonged to, the officer transported the dog to Shepper Avenue. The dog was returned to its owner. Union County Sheriff Office Dog Warden spoke to the canine’s owner and gave him a warning for dog at large and for the dog being unregistered. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer responded to North Avenue in reference to a noise complaint May 31 at 11:40 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with both parties. Both parties stated that they had been involved in a verbal dispute but that they would separate for the remainder of the night. After both parties were calm, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer was dispatched to South Jefferson Avenue in reference to a dog left in a vehicle May 31 at 4:10 p.m. The caller advised dispatch the small K-9 may be in distress. Upon arrival, the officer met the caller who was standing next to the vehicle. Upon checking, the dog did not appear to be in distress. The officer then went into the Der Dutchman and located the dog’s owner and advised her of the complaint. The dog owner advised the officer that there is a cup of water in the center console for the dog. The officer advised dog owner that she had forgotten to take the lid off. The dog owner and the officer proceed to her vehicle where she removed the lid and double-checked that dog was okay. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer was on patrol when the officer observed a suspicious vehicle at McKitrick Park June 1 at 11:39 p.m. The officer observed a green Kia Soul parked near the creek. The officer then made contact with two subjects, who were sitting by the edge of the creek. They advised they were enjoying their evening and simply having a conversation. Once the officer determined everything to be okay, the officer then returned to patrol.
An officer responded to North Avenue in reference to a noise complaint June 1 at 12:36 a.m. The caller stated that the subjects inside the listed location were playing loud music. Upon arrival, the officer stood outside the apartment for several minutes but could not hear anything. The officer made contact with resident who stated that he was not playing any music and that he was sleeping. After determining that the call was unfounded, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer responded to South Jefferson Avenue in reference to a suicide threat that was passed on by Franklin County Sheriff Department June 1 at 7:22 p.m. While attempting to locate the car in the parking lot, the officer was flagged down by the daughter, who advised the officer that her mother had called her and her two siblings making suicide threats. The officer was able to locate the mother and the father in the south-most parking lot.
An officer was dispatched to West Avenue in reference to turtle attempting to cross the street June 1 at 4:55 p.m. The caller advised that a large snapping turtle was attempting to cross West Avenue and he didn’t want it being run over. The officer was able to successfully capture the turtle in order to return it to a turtle appropriate venue. The officer transported the turtle to McKitrick Park where the officer released it into the river. The turtle successfully swam away and officer returned to patrol.
An officer responded to West Main Street in reference to a failure to pay June 2 at 3:05 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer met with an employee who advised she witnessed the subject get gas from the listed location and drive off without paying.
An officer was dispatched to South Chillicothe Street in reference to a non-injury hit skip crash June 2 at 9 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer met with the caller and his wife who advised he was driving his 2011 Toyota on West Main Street. As he approached South Jefferson Avenue, he attempted to turn into the turn lane to turn southbound on South Jefferson Avenue, the vehicle behind him, a 2005 black Ford, driver by Ted Miller, also attempt to turn into the southbound lane, well before the turn lane actually started. This caused the side passenger mirror of Ted’s vehicle to collide with Toyota driver side mirror.
An officer was on patrol when the officer observed a dispute on West Main Street June 3 at 11:05 p.m. The officer made contact with a male subject and female subject. The female subject was very upset. She stated that she cashed a client’s check at Mike’s Pit Stop, which bounced due to insufficient funds.
An officer responded to West Main Street in reference to a suspicious person complaint June 3 at 10:46 p.m. The caller stated that a female inside the Marathon station appeared to be intoxicated.
Officers were dispatched to West Main Street in reference to an active fight June 3 at 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, the officers learned that a female subject was walking in front of the listed location and got into a verbal argument with three individuals. The female subject then followed the three individuals into the listed location and a physical altercation occurred.
An officer was requested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office to Industrial Parkway in reference to an alarm drop June 3 at 7:55 p.m.
An officer was on patrol when the officer observed a non-injury vehicle crash June 3 at 3:33 a.m. While on a traffic stop, the officer observed a 2017 silver Cadillac SUV traveling southbound on U.S. 42 south of Route 736 strike a deer crossing the roadway.
An officer was dispatched to Weathervane Way in reference to a barking dog June 3 at 1:53 a.m. Upon arrival, the officer could hear a dog barking in the rear of the residence. The officer made contact with the animal’s owner who apologized and advised she had fallen asleep. The dog was brought into the residence. The officer then returned to patrol.
