According to Plain City Police Department reports:
An officer was dispatched to Perry Pike in reference to a loose dog June 10 at 6:18 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer located a black male Shih Tzu. The officer captured the dog and transported it to the police department. The officer was able to locate the owner through the Madison County dog tag. The officer then transported the dog to its residence and released it to the owner’s son. He was advised of the ordinance prohibiting dogs running at large.
An officer responded to Gat Street in reference to a runaway juvenile June 11 at 11:02 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a complainant who advised his son left the house in an unknown direction. While attempting to locate the juvenile, the complainant got a text message from his ex-wife and also the juvenile’s mother, who was in Georgia. The mother advised she gave the juvenile permission to stay at her residence. The complainant and the officer then went to the mother’s residence and spoke to the juvenile. After determining everything to be fine, the officer then returned to patrol.
An officer was dispatched to the Dollar General in reference to a theft complaint June 12 at 1:51 p.m. Upon arrival, the officers met with Kathryn Mershon and the manager. The officer learned that Mershon allegedly concealed two packages of earrings and one tan pocketbook inside her purse. She exited the business without paying for the items. Mershon was subsequently charged for theft and released. She was also advised not to return to the business or she could be charged for criminal trespass.
An officer met with the manager at the Dollar General June 12 at 2:55 p.m. She provided the officer with a debit card that had been left in the store for some time. The officer called the bank and learned that the card was no longer valid and it could be destroyed.
While on routine patrol, the officer observed a maroon Ford F-150 traveling westbound on West Main Street June 12 at 5:46 p.m. As the officer observed the vehicle, it crossed the double yellow line. The officer continued to follow the vehicle and once outside of Plain City, it nearly drove off the right side of the roadway. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Scott Rollins, and advised him why he was stopped Rollins admitted that he did not have a valid driver’s license. Upon checking his driving record, the officer learned that he was currently under multiple suspensions. Rollins was subsequently issued a citation for suspension, no OL and marked lanes. He was released on the scene to a family member. His vehicle was towed to the Plain City Impound Lot.
Officers responded to South Jefferson Avenue in reference to a verbal dispute June 12 at 9:40 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the suspect who advised he was just fired from his job.
An officer observed a green Chevrolet pick-up truck at the intersection of Fairfield Drive and South Chillicothe Street June 13 at 4:57 p.m. The officer then observed the vehicle back all the way from the intersection into a parking space nears the apartments on Fairfield Drive. The officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Justin Oppy. Oppy was issued a traffic citation for no valid OL and child support suspension.
An officer was requested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office to be on the lookout for a grey Ford pick-up truck with front-end damage that was involved in a hit-skip accident on U.S. 42 near Industrial Parkway June 13 at 7:31 p.m. The officer observed the vehicle traveling southbound on U.S. 42 near Route 736 and initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle, a grey Ford pick-up with heavy front-end damage. Once assistance was no longer needed, the officer then returned to patrol.
The officer was dispatched to Center Street in reference to a suspicious circumstance June 13 at 11:35 p.m. The caller advised the listed location is vacant but noticed someone inside of the residence. While on the phone with dispatch, the subjects inside of the residence left and were seen on East West Avenue in a blue SUV. Upon arrival to the area, the officer located the vehicle, a blue Hyundai.
An officer observed a small white canine walking in the roadway at the intersection of Shepper Avenue and Noteman Road June 14 at 2:30 p.m. An officer tried to approach the canine when it fled to the front porch of a house on Noteman Road. While attempting to put a leash on the canine, the homeowner came outside. The subject advised the officer the canine belonged to him. The subject was given a verbal warning for dog at large. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer responded to North Avenue in reference to a theft of property June 14 at 6:54 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant who advised she noticed a few items missing from her house on June 12. The complainant then advised today she returned from running errands and noticed additional items were missing from her residence. The complainant advised she searched the house and noticed more items missing.
An officer observed a green Honda Accord with no visible registration traveling northbound on South Chillicothe Street June 14 at 8:58 p.m. The officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the vehicle driver and his passenger, Tristyn Fox. While the officer was up at the vehicle, the officer noticed the registration was in the rear window of the vehicle (not easily visible). The officer advised the driver and Fox that K-9 Andor would be performing an open-air narcotic sniff of the vehicle. Fox then advised the officer she had a bag of marijuana in her purse. The officer then completed a probable cause search of the purse where the officer located a plastic bag containing raw marijuana. Fox was issued a citation for possession of marijuana. The driver was given a verbal warning for failure to display. The officer then returned to patrol.
An officer was requested by State Highway Patrol to locate a deer that was struck by a vehicle on U.S. 42 June 14 at 10:41 p.m. Once assistance was no longer needed, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer met with the complainant at the police department in reference to a dog bite June 14 at 11:23 p.m. The complainant advised she was speaking with the subject in the alley in between North Avenue and Shepper Avenue. The complainant advised she had her canine with her, on a leash, when the subject’s canine got loose and attacked her dog.
Officers were requested to assist the Union County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a possible burglary on Currier Road June 14 at 2:02 a.m. Once assistance was no longer needed, the officers returned to patrol.
An officer conducted a routine registration check on a blue Lincoln Town Car traveling northbound on a No Name Alley near East First Avenue June 15 at 3:57 p.m. The registration returned with information advising the vehicle was stolen out of Licking County and was entered in as stolen by the Licking County Sheriff’s Office. Union County Sheriff’s Office advised the vehicle was confirmed stolen. The officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle on East First Avenue near North Avenue. Another PCPD officer arrived on scene shortly after and assisted with the felony stop. The vehicle occupants were ordered out of the vehicle one by one and placed into custody. The first person placed into custody was the driver, Darrin Selby, the second was the front seat passenger, and the last was the back seat passenger, Clifton Bingham. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, a small bag of methamphetamine was located along with a glass pipe with burnt methamphetamine residue. It was also learned that the female subject has an active protection order against Bingham.
An officer was on patrol when the officer observed a 2015 Jeep stopped in the middle of the road on South Chillicothe Street near Villa Drive June 16 at 10:20 p.m. As the officer approached the vehicle, the officer noticed the vehicle was not running, but the keys were in the ignition. The officer made contact with the driver, Brandon Jinks, who asked the officer if the officer could take him home. Jinks had bloodshot and glossy eyes, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person and slurred speech. While speaking with him, he advised he had consumed about ten beers and just left a friend’s house.
An officer was dispatched to the area of Central Avenue in reference to a suspicious person June 16 at 11:42 a.m. The caller advised the male appeared to be holding a handgun. The caller thought that the gun was a toy (with a red tip) but was not sure. A short time later, the officer made contact with the suspect, at his residence. The suspect confirmed that he had walked through the area and was carrying an air soft gun.
An officer was dispatched to South Jefferson Avenue in reference to a trespasser complaint June 16 at 2:27 p.m. Dispatch advised that the caller was aware of subject being trespassed earlier in the week due to a shoplifting charge. The subject was issued a warning for criminal trespass. The officer then returned to patrol.
On June 16 at 7:14 p.m., an officer received a direct call at the police department in reference to custody questions at the listed location. The officer made contact with both parties. The officer answered all questions in regards to custody and returned to patrol.
An officer was dispatched to Maple Street in reference to a possible domestic violence incident June 16 at 8:37 p.m. Dispatch advised there was an active fight between the subject and her sister. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the subject who was standing outside of the residence. While speaking with the subject it was clear she was having a mental health episode.
An officer was dispatched to Fairfield Drive in reference to a dispute June 16 at 8:39 p.m. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the complainant and suspect. They advised there was a dispute over the laundry room’s washer and dryer.
