According to Plain City Police Department reports:
Officers were dispatched to Fairfield Drive at 7:52 p.m. Aug. 7 in reference to a domestic dispute.
An officer was on patrol on South Chillicothe Street at 7:19 a.m. Aug. 7 when he observed a black and brown female Labrador running in the area of the flatiron. The officer took possession of the dog and secured her in the police department with food and water. The next day, the officer met with the dog’s owner and returned the animal to him. The owner was warned for dogs running at large and advised to ensure the dog did not get loose again.
A complainant called the police department at 1:57 p.m. Aug. 7 regarding a well-being check on his children, who were at his ex-wife’s house. The officer checked on the kids, who were OK.
An officer responded to U.S. 42 near Rickard Road at 4:32 p.m. Aug. 7 in reference to a tree blocking the roadway.
An officer was dispatched to West Main Street at 4:49 p.m. Aug. 7 in reference to a tree that had fallen into the roadway. Upon arrival, the officer observed a large branch that had fallen from a tree in the front yard of the listed location. The tree landed on top of a gray Acura. The branch was also blocking the westbound lane of West Main Street. With assistance from the public works department, the roadway was cleared. The branch also damaged the roof and gutter of 306 West Main Street. The tenant said they would notify the landlord.
An officer was dispatched to a report of a fallen tree onto a house on North Avenue at 4:55 p.m. Aug. 7. The officer arrived on scene and contacted the caller, who stated that a tree at the rear of her property fell over, blocking the alley just east of her residence and damaging a home. The officer made contact with the tenant at the listed location. The tenant and the street department were notified of the damage.
An officer was on patrol at 5:05 p.m. Aug. 7 and noticed a large tree on Noteman Road near Shepper Avenue blocking the roadway. The officer moved the tree.
An officer responded to Central Avenue at 5:10 p.m. with Station 261 personnel in reference to wires down in the roadway. 261 personnel advised the officer it was just a phone line and that the phone company was notified. Cones were also placed the roadway to deter traffic.
An officer observed a large tree blocking the roadway on East South Street near Central Avenue at 5:20 p.m. Aug. 7. Station 261 personnel and the officer were able to remove the tree.
An officer responded to the parking lot of Tique Tock on South Chillicothe Street at 5:24 p.m. Aug. 7 in reference to a tree that had fallen on a vehicle. Station 261 personnel and the officer cleared the tree off the vehicle. The officer then notified the vehicle owner of the incident via public service.
An officer observed a large tree branch that had fallen in front of South Chillicothe Street at 6:27 p.m. Aug. 7. Upon arrival, the officer observed an Ohio Edison employee already on the scene. He advised that the branch had fallen and pulled the service from the residence. He was there to restore service. He also advised that part of the branch was stuck in the power lines. He had already contacted their tree trimming service to take care of that. The public works department arrived on scene and cleaned up the portion that was on the ground.
A manager at The Grainery on West Main Street advised she wanted a subject to be trespassed from the property at 12:21 a.m. due to his cussing and vulgar language toward staff. The subject was warned for trespassing and escorted off the property, then released.
Officers responded to East West Avenue at 10:21 p.m. Aug. 7 in reference to a suicide attempt. Medics arrived on scene to evaluate the subject, but the subject refused service. The subject was released to the custody of a friend.
An officer was dispatched to South Chillicothe Street at 5:39 p.m. Aug. 7 in reference to a 911 hang-up.
Police were dispatched to Do It Best Hardway on Village Blvd. at 6:59 a.m. Aug. 7.
An officer was dispatched to Maple Street at 7:59 p.m. Aug. 6 in reference to a juvenile who threw a bike off the bridge. The officer deemed everything to be OK.
An officer conducted a routine registration check on a white Ford sedan traveling southbound on North Chillicothe Street near Pastime Park at 7:23 p.m. Aug. 6. The registration returned to Amber Buchanan, a wanted person. Buchanan had an active misdemeanor warrant out of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation. She was released into the custody of a DCSO deputy.
An officer was dispatched to East Main Street in reference to a large outdoor fire at 7:06 p.m. Aug. 6. The subject was burning hardwood floor plank from a house he was renovating. The subject was advised that he couldn’t burn anything with chemicals and educated on the size of the fire. Pleasant Valley Fire District officials were comfortable with letting the fire burn out.
Police responded to an open door at Bob’s Better Repair on North Chillicothe Street at 4:45 p.m. Aug. 6.
Officers were dispatched to North Chillicothe Street at 4:21 p.m. Aug. 6 in reference to a well-being check.
An officer was dispatched to the area of North Chillicothe Street at 11:46 p.m. Aug. 6 in reference to a driving complaint. Kathleen Macdonald was placed under arrest for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. She was also issued a traffic citation for OVI, OVI super concentration, stop sign violation and a seat belt violation. Macdonald was advised of her court date and released to the custody of her daughter.
An officer was contacted by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a sexual assault that occurred on Dickens Lane at 4:44 p.m. Aug. 5.
An officer was dispatched to Warbler Lane at 11:36 a.m. Aug. 5 in reference to a 911 follow-up.
An officer was dispatched to Ketch Road at 2:24 p.m. Aug. 5 in reference to a well-being check and possible shots fired complaint.
An officer was met at the police department by a complainant at 4:04 p.m. Aug. 5 who advised he received a fraudulent check in the mail. After further investigation, the officer advised the complainant to destroy the check. The officer also advised the complainant to block any calls from similar numbers.
Officers responded to Der Dutchman on South Jefferson Avenue at 7:06 p.m. Aug. 5 in reference to a possible domestic dispute.
An officer observed a Buick parked on the gravel lot south of the Der Dutchman Petting Zoo on South Jefferson Avenue at 11:49 p.m. Aug. 5. The officer determined everything was OK.
An officer responded to the Plain City Animal Hospital on West Bigelow Avenue at 4:04 p.m. Aug. 5 in reference to a hit-skip crash. The vehicle struck an overhanging sign for the business, causing damage to the sign. The vehicle left the scene. An officer checked with nearby businesses in an attempt to obtain security footage, but was unsuccessful.
Police responded to an open door at The Grainery on West Main Street at 1:17 a.m. Aug. 4.
An officer was contacted at 11:29 p.m. Aug. 4 by a complainant via telephone who was concerned for her daughter. The daughter was voluntarily transported to a hospital by medic.
An officer met with a complainant at his residence on Warrenton Drive at 7:32 p.m. Aug. 4. The complainant wished to a file a report regarding a dog bite that occurred on April 10. The officer advised the complainant that he would document the incident. The complainant was advised that the officer was unable to quarantine the canine due to the time that has passed.
Police responded to an open door on Bluestem Lame at 2:59 a.m. Aug. 4.
An officer observed the rear passenger door to a red 2020 Toyota wide open on West First Avenue at 2:22 a.m. Aug. 4. The vehicle owner checked his vehicle and did not observe anything missing. The vehicle owner advised he thinks he forgot to shut it after getting out of the vehicle that evening.
An officer observed a black male with all black clothing on Gay Street, standing next to a 2013 Hyundai Elantra with a flashlight pointed toward the vehicle at 2:07 a.m. Aug. 4. Once the unknown male saw the officer, he ran westbound through an unnamed alley and toward Maple Court. The officer followed the male subject, but lost him once the suspect went through an unknown residence’s yard on Maple Court. The officer made contact with the vehicle owner, who advised nothing appeared to be stolen or out of place. The officer patrolled Gay Street and was unable to detect any of the vehicles were tampered with.

Police responded to an open door at Ferguson’s Funeral Home on East Main Street at 1:34 a.m. Aug. 4.
An officer was dispatched to a report of a hit-skip crash at Pastime Park at 9:20 p.m. Aug. 3.
Dispatch advised an officer that a complainant wanted to speak to an officer at the Plain City Police Department at 3:24 p.m. Aug. 3. The officer learned that the complaint occurred outside of PCPD’s jurisdiction. The complainant was advised of the appropriate agencies to contact.
An officer was traveling eastbound on East Main Street behind a white Chevrolet Silverado pulling a flatbed trailer at 12:37 p.m. Aug. 3. The officer noticed heavy smoke coming from the right side of the trailer. The officer activated his emergency lights to attempt to get the driver’s attention. As the truck was slowing to stop, the front right tandem tire popped. The vehicle was unable to be moved off the roadway due to the ditch line. Officers provided traffic control while a service technician replaced the trailer tire.
A U.S. postal worker called the police department at 12:35 p.m. Aug. 3, stating that mail on Country Place Lane was piling up. He requested a well-being check at the address. An officer determined everything to be OK.
An officer responded to Plumwood court at 11:20 a.m. Aug. 3 to make contact with a resident at the request of the Columbus Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to Maple Court at 12:36 a.m. Aug. 3 in reference to a well-being check. The officer determined everything to be OK.
