According to Plain City Police Department reports:
An officer responded to a suspicious vehicle at Miller’s Furniture at 1:37 a.m. June 6. Contact was made with the driver, who advised she cleans the business after hours. After deeming everything to be fine, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer found a door unsecured at Jan and Tony’s Pizza on West Main Street at 11:22 a.m. June 6. The officer checked the building and found nothing out of the ordinary. The officer was unable to secure the door and left a note.
An officer responded to a complaint of a theft of a wallet at Marathon/GB Power LLC on West Main Street at 2:19 p.m. June 6. The caller advised he dropped his wallet at the business and a witness saw an unknown subject pick it up and leave with it. The investigation is ongoing.
Officers responded to a complaint of a solicitor on Jackson Boulevard at 7:55 p.m. June 6. Officers made contact with the individual, who advised he worked for Aptive Enviromental and he did not have a solicitor permit from the village. Subsequently, Anthony Robles, 20, of Washington, Utah, was charged for soliciting without a permit.
An officer responded to a fraud complaint at the Pleasant Valley Joint Fire District on West Main Street at 8:14 p.m. June 6. After further investigation, the incident occurred outside of the village limits and was referred to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
An officer responded to a 911 follow-up on Country View Lane at 9:39 p.m. June 6 and was advised it was accidental and everything was fine.
An officer responded to a possible dispute between a husband and wife on Gay Street at 7 a.m. June 5. Both parties agreed to separate until they were calm. Once determining everything to be fine, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer responded to a loose canine on East Main Street at 4:30 p.m. June 5 and took possession of the dog. A short time later, the owner came to the police department and claimed the dog. The owner was advised of the consequences of the dog running at large and also of the need for dog tags.
An officer responded to a complaint of a suspicious person walking up and down the street on John Street at 6:12 p.m. June 5. Contact was made with the person, who advised he was lost. The officer gave the person a courtesy ride to McDonald’s.
An officer was requested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol to assist with a BAC test at the Plain City Municipal Building on Village Boulevard at 3:08 a.m. June 4. Once the officer was no longer needed, he returned to patrol.
An officer responded to a possible dispute between a husband and wife on Murlay Drive at 7:52 a.m. June 4. Upon further investigation, it was a verbal argument and both parties were calm by the time the officer arrived. Both parties agreed to remain calm the rest of the day.
Officers were requested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office to assist on a traffic stop on North Avenue at 3:02 p.m. June 4. Once they were no longer needed, they returned to patrol.
An officer responded to a report of a goat who had its head stuck in a fence at the Der Dutchman Petting Zoo on South Jefferson Avenue at 5 p.m. June 4. A keyholder was contacted, responded to the scene and released the goat.
An officer responded to a possible non-injury hit and run accident at Der Dutchman on South Jefferson Avenue at 5:07 p.m. June 4. After speaking with the vehicle owner, it was learned that the damage was caused by a previous accident.
An officer found doors to a construction pod open at RBI Construction Management on North Chillicothe Street at 11:10 p.m. June 4. A keyholder was contacted, who arrived on scene and stated nothing appeared to be missing and secured the pod.
An officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with only one headlight on Doe Street at 11:40 p.m. June 4. The officer made contact with the driver, who was advised of the violation and given a verbal warning for equipment violation.
An officer responded to a complaint of possible identity theft on Smucker Lane at 3:19 p.m. June 3. The caller advised someone had used her debit card without her permission. The officer advised the caller to contact her bank and an incident report was taken.
Officers responded on a complaint of a verbal dispute between a husband and wife on South Mechanic Street at 3:47 p.m. June 3. Both parties advised they would remain calm.
An officer responded to a civil issue between a mother and daughter on Converse Avenue at 4:44 p.m. June 3. Both parties agreed to resolve the issue between themselves and the officer returned to patrol.
An officer responded to a 911 follow-up at Pastime Park on North Chillicothe Street at 5:40 p.m. June 3. The officer was advised it was accidental and everything was fine.
An officer responded at 12:03 p.m. June 1 to a report of a set of keys that were found at North Chillicothe Street and Noteman Road on May 15. The officer took possession of the keys and brought them back to the police department.
An officer responded to two loose canines around Plain City Lanes on South Jefferson Avenue at 10:27 a.m. May 31. The officer attempted to catch the canines but was unable to. A short time later, the owner arrived and retrieved her canines. A report was forwarded to the Madison County Dog Warden due to the animals residing outside of the village limits.
Officers responded to a complaint of threatening messages being received at Berkshire Hathaway Home Services on East Main Street at 10:51 a.m. May 31. After further investigation, the incident happened outside of PCPD’s jurisdiction and was forwarded to the Columbus Police Department.
An officer observed a dump truck strike a vehicle stopped at a red light on East Main Street at 4:22 p.m. May 31. Subsequently, Norman Sears, 50, of Thornville was issued a citation for reasonable control and overweight use of local streets.
An officer responded to a complaint of a solicitor on South Chillicothe Street at 7:06 p.m. May 31. After further investigation, the individual was with the homeowner’s current utility company. After determining everything to be fine and that no laws were broken, the officer returned to patrol.
Officers responded to a suspicious vehicle being parked at a reserved campsite in Pastime Park on North Chillicothe Street at 8:41 p.m. May 31. Contact was made with the occupant, who advised he thought the spot was empty. The vehicle was moved without incident.
Officers responded to a report of an inactive domestic assault on North Avenue at 9:19 p.m. May 31. After further investigation, Shane Barker, 26, of Plain City was arrested and charged with domestic violence and was transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail. A report was forwarded to Madison County Job and Family Services due to children being present.
An officer assisted the Madison County Sheriff’s Office with traffic control at the intersection of U.S. 42 and Price Hillard Road at 4:55 p.m. May 30.
An officer assisted the Madison County Sheriff’s Office with a reported assault on Olive Branch Road at 2:16 a.m. May 30.
Officers responded to reports of fireworks being set off on South Chillicothe Street at 12:37 a.m. May 30. They patrolled the area but didn’t hear anything and couldn’t locate anyone setting them off.
An officer responded to reports of fireworks on Jackson Boulevard at 9:08 p.m. May 30. The officer located the individual setting them off and warned him of possible criminal charges if he continued.
An officer responded to North Avenue at 10:58 p.m. May 29 for a possible burglary that happened earlier in the evening. The callers reported that when they returned home the front door was standing open, the home had been rummaged through and items had been taken. They advised officers they had received calls from an unknown number alluding to someone being inside the residence. The investigation is ongoing.
An officer responded to a possible domestic dispute on North Avenue at 1:21 p.m. May 29. The parties advised it was verbal and did not turn physical. Both parties agreed to separate and remain calm.
An officer responded to a possible missing person at Lee’s Sports and Spirits on West Bigelow Avenue at 4:30 a.m. May 29. The individual was located and was visibly intoxicated. Subsequently, Mercy Lackey, 20, of Columbus was issued a citation for underage consumption and was released to a friend.
An officer responded to a residential lockout on Wellsley Way at 1:48 a.m. May 29. Upon arrival, the officer was advised the resident was able to get in the home.
An officer responded to multiple individuals at the basketball court at Pastime Park on North Chillicothe Street after park hours, at 1:42 a.m. May 29. The individuals were advised they couldn’t be there after hours. They were warned for trespassing and left the location without incident.
An officer responded to a report of a male experiencing a mental health crisis on East South Street at 12:24 a.m. May 28. Resources were provided to the individual.
Officers responded to a report of a trespasser on Willow Creek Court at 3:50 p.m. May 28. The homeowner didn’t want estranged family members at her residence and wanted them trespassed. Officers verbally warned the individuals of trespassing. Once they left the location, officers returned to patrol.
Officers responded to a Jeep that had hit two parked vehicles on West Bigelow Avenue at 12 a.m. May 28. After further investigation, Garrett Dillow, 22, of Urbana was found to be the driver of the Jeep, and was intoxicated. He was placed into custody and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OVI refusal with a prior conviction, failure to control and possession of marijuana. The vehicle was towed to the police impound lot. Dillow was later released to a family member.
Officers responded to a well-being check due to yelling coming from a residence on Church Street at 6:52 p.m. May 28. Contact was made with the individuals and the officer was advised everything was fine. A report was forwarded to Madison County Job and Family Services.
An officer responded to a suspicious vehicle at the Plain City Area Baseball Association on North Chillicothe Street at 2:18 a.m. May 27 and made contact with the occupant, who advised he was checking on the fields. Once the individual left the area, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer responded to a behavioral health issue on Village Boulevard at 4:55 p.m. May 27. After meeting with the individual, the officer determined he was not a threat to himself or others and advised he was fine. After deeming everything to be fine, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer responded to a complaint of a solicitor on South Chillicothe Street at 4:35 p.m. May 27. After further investigation, the individual was with the homeowner’s current utility company. After determining everything to be fine and that no laws were broken, the officer returned to patrol.
An officer responded to a non-injury crash at the North Avenue Apartments on North Avenue at 3:51 p.m. May 27. A vehicle was backing up and struck a parked vehicle. Insurance information was exchanged. Subsequently, Raymond Austin, 84, of Green Valley, Arizona was issued a citation for starting and backing.
An officer responded to a neighbor dispute at the North Avenue Apartments on North Avenue at 3:22 p.m. May 27. Both parties agreed to separate and remain calm for the remainder of the day.
An officer responded to a complaint of property damage crash at Hydro Spray Car Wash on Village Boulevard at 11:13 a.m. May 27. The parties exchanged information.
An officer was requested for a civil standby on East South Street at 8:25 a.m. May 27. Once the officer was no longer needed, he returned to patrol.
