According to Plain City Police Department reports:
Officers arrested Kevin Taylor, 41, of Plain City on a confirmed arrest warrant out of the Union County Sheriff’s Office on West Main Street at 7:27 p.m. Sept. 6. Taylor was released to a Union County Sheriff’s deputy.
An officer responded to West Main Street at 7:56 p.m. Sept. 6 for a complaint of a possible theft of license plate by a known subject. The caller declined to pursue charges but wanted the property returned. The officer contacted the subject requesting the property be returned. A follow-up will be completed to ensure the property was returned.
An officer responded to Madison Avenue at 7:06 p.m. Sept. 5 for a report of a cat that appeared to be sick. A nearby resident offered to take the cat and was going to transport it to the Humane Society.
An officer was requested to assist the Columbus Police Department on a well-being check on Jackson Boulevard at 3:57 p.m. Sept. 5.
An officer responded to Villa Drive at 11:40 a.m. Sept. 5 for a report of a possible dispute between family members. Parties were calm when the officer arrived and agreed to remain calm.
An officer was requested to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol with a BAC test at the Plain City Municipal Building on Village Boulevard at 3:24 a.m. Sept. 5.
An officer responded to Gay Street at 7:31 p.m. Sept. 5 for a complaint of identity theft regarding a credit card opened in their name by an unknown subject. The caller reported contact has already been made with the bank and requested the incident be documented.
An officer observed two juveniles at Plain City Elementary School on South Chillicothe Street at 10:59 p.m., after hours. Contact was made with their parents, who arrived on scene a short time later to pick them up. The juveniles were warned for curfew violation.
An officer responded to Christian Life Church on South Chillicothe Street at 5:49 p.m. Sept. 4 for an alarm drop. A door was found to be ajar. A keyholder was contacted, who arrived on scene a short time later and secured the building.
An officer responded to East Main Street at 1:18 p.m. Sept. 3 for a complaint of telecommunication harassment. The caller advised that a known subject was making threatening comments over the phone. The officer advised the complainant not to have any communication with the caller and to call the police if the issue continued.
Officers were requested to assist the Union County Sheriff’s Office with a driving complaint on Route 161 at 3:11 p.m. Sept. 3.
An officer responded to West South Street at 12:35 p.m. Sept. 3 for a complaint of harassing phone calls being received by a known subject. The caller advised that she did not want any contact with the subject. The officer contacted the subject and advised she needed to stop all communication with the reporting party.
Officers responded to Pastime Park on North Chillicothe Street at midnight Sept. 3 for a well-being check on an individual sitting in a vehicle for some time. Contact was made with the only occupant. During that time, officers observed drug paraphernalia and a white powder laying on the center console. A probable cause search was conducted and several items were seized. Initially, the subject provided a false identity to officers. Subsequently, Joshua Hostetler, 33, of Plain City was charged with drug paraphernalia, marijuana paraphernalia and falsification. Additional charges are pending results of a lab analysis.
Officers were requested to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol on I-70 for a K9 assist at 8:40 p.m. Sept. 3. K9 Andor completed an open air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert for narcotics.
An officer heard an alarm coming from an address on Harrington Drive, which is currently vacant, at 8:56 p.m. Sept. 2. Upon closer inspection, the officer found a smoke detector in a dumpster located in the driveway. The battery was removed.
Officers were requested to assist the Union County Sheriff’s Office on U.S. 42 for a K9 assist at 11:35 p.m. Sept. 2. K9 Andor completed an open air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert for narcotics.
A traffic stop was conducted on South Jefferson Avenue at 10:53 p.m. Sept. 2 for a vehicle with a suspended driver. Subsequently, Deborah Faires, 32, of Delaware was issued traffic citations for no valid operator’s license and operating a vehicle while intoxicated suspension. The vehicle was towed to the PCPD Impound Lot.
An officer responded to West South Street at 9:19 p.m. Sept. 2 for a complaint of telecommunication harassment. The caller reported a known subject repeatedly kept calling her. The officer made contact with the subject and advised to stop all communication.
An officer was requested to assist the Union County Sheriff’s Office with a pursuit on U.S. 33 at 11:14 a.m. Sept. 1. Once the officer was no longer needed, he returned to patrol.
Officers were requested on Converse Avenue at 11:52 a.m. Sept. 1 for a civil standby while a tenant gathered their belongings. Once they were no longer needed, the officers returned to patrol.
Officers responded to the Plain City Municipal Building on Village Boulevard at 1:42 p.m. Sept. 1 for a complaint of an unruly juvenile. After speaking with the juvenile, the officers advised of possible consequences. Once determining everything was fine, they returned to patrol.
Officer responded to Shepper Avenue at 3:44 p.m. Sept. 1 for a parking complaint. The officer made contact with the owner, who advised the vehicle would be moved as soon as possible.
An officer responded to Plain City Lanes on South Jefferson Avenue at 4:31 p.m. Sept. 1 for a complaint of an abandoned vehicle at the listed location. A short time later, Kirby’s Towing arrived on scene and towed the vehicle to the PCPD Impound Lot.
An officer responded to McDonald’s on South Jefferson Avenue at 4:47 p.m. Sept. 1 for a non-injury crash involving a vehicle that reportedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Subsequently, Jeffrey Barry, 62, of Plain City was issued a citation for failure to yield. One vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
An officer responded to Grant Avenue at 5:32 p.m. Sept. 1 for a parking complaint. The officer made contact with the vehicle owner, who advised the vehicles would be moved as soon as possible. The officer also advised of possible zoning violations if the vehicles weren’t moved.
An officer responded to the North Avenue Apartments on North Avenue at 7:44 p.m. Sept. 1 for a complaint of a neighbor dispute. The parties were separated and advised to remain calm and avoid contact with each other.
An officer initiated a traffic stop on South Jefferson Avenue at 10:58 p.m. Sept. 1 for a vehicle with a handwritten vehicle registration displayed. Contact was made with the driver, who had a suspended driver’s license. Subsequently, Robert Kegg, 63, of Columbus was issued citations for FRA suspension, no valid operator’s license and fictitious tags. The vehicle was towed to the PCPD Impound Lot.
An officer was requested for a civil standby while a tenant gathered her belongings on Converse Avenue at 12:09 a.m. Aug. 31. Once the officer was no longer needed, he returned to patrol.
An officer responded to North Chillicothe Street at 6:48 a.m. Aug. 31 for a well-being check. The officer made contact with the individuals, who advised everything was fine.
Officers responded to a non-injury crash at the intersection of East Bigelow Avenue and South Chillicothe Street involving three vehicles at 3:43 p.m. Aug. 31. A black Infiniti was attempting to turn onto South Chillicothe when the driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Subsequently, Greta Cray, 42, of Plain City was cited for failure to yield when turning left. Two of the vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Officers responded to a possible behavioral health issue on North Avenue at 7:04 p.m. Aug. 31. After speaking with the individual, it was determined the individual was not a threat to herself or anyone else. After determining everything to be fine, officers returned to patrol.
An officer responded to North Chillicothe Street at 9:49 p.m. Aug. 31 for a well-being check. The officer made contact with the individual, who advised everything was fine.
A traffic stop was initiated on a vehicle for speeding on South Jefferson Avenue at 10:23 p.m. Aug. 31. During the stop, the officer observed an open container of alcohol that was half full. The driver had a suspended driver’s license. Subsequently, Jose Gil-Pereda, 28, of Hilliard was arrested and transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail. Gil-Perada was charged with no valid operator’s license, operating a vehicle while intoxicated/physical control suspension, speed and open container. The vehicle was towed to the PCPD Impound Lot.
An officer found a door unsecured at Outdoor FX on South Jefferson Avenue at 1:19 a.m. Aug. 30. The officer checked the building and did not find anything out of the ordinary. A note was left and the door was secured.
An officer responded to Gran Sport Motors on South Jefferson Avenue at 10:50 a.m. Aug. 30 for a property complaint between an employer and a former employee. The officer advised this was a civil issue, however, the parties later advised they worked it out.
An officer responded to East South Street at 4:08 p.m. Aug. 30 for a report of an injury crash at the intersection of East South Street and Gay Street. A short time later, medics arrived on scene and checked out both drivers. Subsequently, Marjorie Schlabach, 83, of Plain City was issued a citation for reasonable control.
An officer responded to West Main Street at 4:54 p.m. Aug. 30 for a 911 follow-up and was advised everything was fine and it was accidental.
An officer responded to Harrington Drive at 6:09 p.m. Aug. 30 for a complaint of a suspicious vehicle sitting in front of a residence. The officer canvassed the area but was unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.
