The Union County Farmers Market with host its 12th annual Summer Festival on August 10 from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Partners Park, Main and Sixth Street.
The market will feature a summer harvest of fresh veggies and fruits, along with home-baked bread and pastries, honey, jams and jellies, meats, eggs and plants.
The Eat Local Food Fight final round will take place at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Health Pavilion.
At the event, there will also be a variety of children’s activities, including a petting zoo and a “Kids Zone” area that will have barnyard themed activities. There, children will do various “chores” in Farmer Bill’s Barnyard. Erica Carlson will be present to sculpt balloons from 8:45-11:45 a.m.
Family fitness on the lawn will include Route 33 Fitness, BTY Training and the YMCA. Each of these will engage attendees through many different forms of physical activities.
Food demonstrations in the cooking tent will be presented by Marlissa Beachy at 9 a.m. followed by Chef Kibby at 10 a.m.
New this year will be a salsa competition at 11 a.m. Entrants can download an application form at unioncountyfarmersmarket.org or pick up a form at the Saturday market.
OSU Extension will be there to answer any canning and preserving questions and test pressure canner lids.
There will also be a variety of artisans who work in different mediums.
The festival will include the following food trucks: Foxtail Farms, Barley 31 and D&S Kettle Corn.
