Bridges Community Action Partnership is sponsoring the 2019 Home Assistance Energy Program (HEAP) Summer Crisis Program, which will begin on July 1 and end on August 31.
The HEAP Summer Crisis Program provides Ohioans with a one-time payment to help them meet the high costs of cooling their homes. Payments are made directly to regulated and unregulated utilities.
The program helps income-eligible households with a member who is 60 years of age or older and has a medical condition certified by a licensed physician or registered nurse practitioner to receive assistance.
Financial assistance for electric bills is the main component of the 2019 program. Some HEAP providers may provide air conditioners or fans to HEAP customers that qualify for the Summer Crisis Program or to customers on an individual basis at the agency’s discretion.
To qualify, total household income must be at or below 175% of the federal poverty guideline.
