Garrett Taylor tossed in 20 points and Jack Christian added 18 as Marysville’s boys basketball team edged Upper Arlington, 57-55, on Friday.
Christian tallied seven points during the opening period as the Monarchs (5-2) jumped out to a 16-10 lead.
Taylor took over during the ensuing period with six markers.
The Golden Bears tied the game at 26-all by halftime.
The score remained deadlocked at 38 by the conclusion of the third set.
Christian scored eight points during the fourth quarter as the Monarchs pulled out the victory.
The Monarchs, who won the game with 21 free throws in 23 attempts, will return to action this evening with a non-conference contest at North Union.

Wildcats still unbeaten
North Union’s boys moved to 7-0 with an 80-61 triumph over Benjamin Logan.
NU (which will host Marysville this evening) soared to a 21-7 advantage by the end of the opening stanza.
The Wildcats grabbed a 42-28 margin by halftime and took a 62-38 spread into the fourth period.
Preston Crabtree led NU with 18 points, followed by Connor Terrill-15, Zach Vernon-11, Aaron Krebehenne-10, Trevyn Feasel-seven, Harley Day-six, Gavin Webb-six, Joel Krebehenne-five and Owen Davis-two.

Panthers triumph
Fairbanks’ boys moved above the .500 mark with a 39-27 verdict at Springfield Catholic Central.
FHS won its fifth game in nine outings this season.
The Panthers struggled with their shooting at times, according to coach Justin George.
FHS (which will travel to Elgin today) held a 12-7 lead after the first quarter and took a 28-15 halftime margin.
The Irish trailed the Panthers, 35-21, by the end of the third period.
Braylon Green led Fairbanks with 13 points, followed by Wyatte Miller-11, Gatlin Luke-five, Travis Brake-four and Mason Winkle, Carter Schultz and Owen Herbst-two each.

Pioneers win
Jonathan Alder’s boys ran their record to 6-2 with a 48-28 verdict over Kenton Ridge.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 19-4 lead by the end of the first quarter and went into halftime with a commanding 34-8 margin.
JA, which will play at DeSales this evening, took a 43-15 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Jackson Izzard led Alder with 19 points, while Grant Welsch added 15.

Cardinals fall
Triad’s boys slipped to 0-5 with a 94-71 loss to Greenon.
The Cardinals (who will travel to Sidney Lehman today) are also 0-5 in the Ohio Heritage Conference.
Triad got off to a strong start and trailed just 20-19 by the end of the opening set.
Greenon, however, got its offense in gear.
It took a 49-35 margin at halftime and carried a 75-45 spread into the final eight minutes of action.
Ayden Spriggs led the Cardinals with 16 points.
He was followed by Dillon Nott-15, Ayden Sanford-12, Batai Lease-12, Garret Talbot-five, Alex Freyhof-four, Drew Campbell-four, Greg Sizemore-two and Jacob Warner-one.
