Jonathan Alder senior Peyton Heiss led a group of area athletes that were selected on the Ohio Prep Sportwriters Association Central District boys and girls basketball teams.
Heiss, who averages 21.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game for the Pioneers, was named Player of the Year in boys Division II in voting done by area sportswriters.
Heiss was one of five players from the area who earned first-team honors.
Marysville senior JoJo Eberhart was among the first-team selections in girls Division I.
Eberhart was a well-rounded player, averaging 11.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.1 steals per game for the Lady Monarchs.
Seniors Evan Platfoot of Jonathan Alder and Audrey Benedict of North Union were each first-teamers in girls Division II.
Platfoot was third in the Central Buckeye Conference in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game. She was fifth in steals (3.1 per game).
Benedict scored at a 14.4 pace per game, while adding 3.5 rebounds and two steals per contest.
Among the boys Division III first team members was North Union’s Max Parish.
Parish, a senior, netted 19.6 points per game, which was third in the CBC. He also averaged 6.5 rebounds and two blocks per game.
Notching second-team honors were Jason Moore of Marysville (Division I boys), Abbey Price of Marysville (Division I girls), Zoe Wedding of North Union (Division II girls) and Holtz Maine of Fairbanks (Division III boys)
Ryker Green of Fairbanks was selected third team in Division III boys.
On the honorable mention list were Addy Tweed of Marysville (Division I girls), Kennedy Harrah of North Union (Division II girls), Miles Hall of North Union (Division III boys) and Ryan Mark of Jonathan Alder (Division II boys).
