Marysville High School track and field athletes competed during the recent Division I state indoor meet.
The event was held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Monarch athletes who competed all placed within the top 25 of their events.
The best effort was turned in by the boys 4×800 meter relay team.
The foursome of Paxton Herring, Adam DeSutter, Blake Murgatroyd and Levi Weithman finished in 13th place.
They were clocked in 8:13.03.
A pair of Lady Monarch relay teams placed 15th.
Lyla Channell, Cameron Cave, Bailey Gross and Ava Elliot ran the 4×800 relay in 10:02.47.
The 4×200 team was comprised of Ava Mordhorst, Aelyn Baumbarger, Olivia Brooks and Shannon Cordle.
Their 15th-place finish came with a clocking of 1:47.53.
Zac Galvis placed 16th during the boys 60-meter hurdles.
He tied his personal record with a time of 8.49.
Audrey Spooner and Cordle respectively came in 16th and 17th in the girls triple jump.
Spooner’s effort was 31-5.25, while Cordle jumped 31-3.5.
Spooner placed 21st in the girls high jump at 4-10.
“The Monarchs did a fantastic job at the indoor state championships,” said MHS head coach Luke Sundermeier. “Our goal going in was to gain experience, compete at a high level and build momentum heading into the outdoor season.
“The team accomplished those goals,” he said. “All three of our relay teams set new school indoor records in the process.”
Several local athletes also competed during the Division II-III state indoor meet.
Those results were as follows:
-Luke Goode, Jonathan Alder, boys 800-meter run, sixth, 1:58.81;
-Rachael Hoover, Fairbanks, girls 1600-meter run, second, 5:04.34 and girls 800-meter run, fifth, 2:18.77;
-Ava Lahmers, Fairbanks, 3200-meter run, tenth, 11:38.51;
-Cayla Eaton, Triad, girls 60-meter hurdles, fifth, 9.42 and 19th, girls long jump, 15-7.
