The 2021 high school baseball campaign came to an end for Jonathan Alder and Fairbanks on Thursday.
The seventh-seeded Pioneers fell to No. 9 Utica, 3-1, during the Division II sectional finals.
Fairbanks dropped a 2-1 verdict at Mt. Gilead in the Division III sectional.
JA-Utica
The Pioneers (18-9) tallied only three hits, one each by J.T. Keith, Jonathan Keith and Jackson Bennett.
J.T. Keith started on the mound for the Pioneers.
He allowed nine hits in 6 1/3 innings. Keith fanned three and issued a pair of walks.
Jonathan Keith tossed the final 2/3 inning for Jonathan Alder. He struck out one.
FHS-Mt. Gilead
Fairbanks (12-15) managed only a trio of hits.
Alex Blumenschein tallied two hits.
Grant Rausch had one hit.
Noah Rausch drove in FHS’ lone run.
Blumenschein went the distance on the bump for the Panthers, who were the No. 10 seed.
He allowed only one earned run, struck out six and did not walk a batter.
Blumenschein allowed five hits to the No. 8 Indians.
