Sydney Bourquin poured in 30 points on Wednesday as Jonathan Alder’s girls basketball team cracked the .500 mark with a 65-49 Central Buckeye Conference victory over Kenton Ridge.
Bourquin tossed in six three-pointers en route to her standout performance.
The Cougars were held to just four points by the Lady Pioneers during the second quarter.
As a result, JA took a 27-17 advantage into the half.
Kenton Ridge got its offense going more during the second half.
JA, though, tallied 22 markers during the final stanza to notch the victory.
Abby Jones joined Bourquin in double figures with 13 points.
The Lady Pioneers, who are 4-3 under first-year head coach Steve Cawley, will travel to Springfield Shawnee on Saturday.

Lady Monarchs fall
Marysville’s girls dropped a 49-33 non-conference verdict to Columbus Bishop Watterson.
The Eagles took a 16-7 lead into the second quarter and a 28-16 margin into the turn.
Watterson’s margin stood at 36-21 going into the fourth quarter.
Sarah O’Neil led the 4-2 Lady Monarchs with 11 points.
MHS will return to action on Friday at Central Crossing.

Bunsold squads split
Marysville’s seventh-grade Blue Lady Monarchs basketball team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 31-27 win against Hilliard Heritage.
The team played solid defense and shot 78 percent from the free throw line to bring home the victory.
Bunsold’s seventh-grade Red boys fell to Hilliard Memorial, 36-25.
Noland French led the Monarchs with eight points.
