Fairbanks’ boys golf squad captured their Panther Invitational on Monday.
FHS carded a team score of 321 at Darby Creek.
Upper Arlington B was the runner-up at 327, followed by Bishop Hartley-334, Kenton Ridge-371, Greenon-372, Grandview Heights-389, Benjamin Logan-391, London-415, Shekinah Christian-416, Northeastern-417, Delaware Christian-418, West Jefferson-439 and Madison Plains-509.
Alex Crowe of FHS was the match medalist with a score of 74.
He was followed by Cole Eger and Chase Brackenridge-78’s and Andrew Crowe-91.
“The guys are playing great golf right now,” said coach Zach Brown. “We have to continue to play smart and not compound our mistakes.
“I am excited for how we have started the season.”
Monarchs place second
Marysville’s boys fired a 324 to claim runner-up honors at Delaware’s Mike Nesselroad Invitational.
Delaware Hayes won the match with a 302.
“After a less-than ideal start to the season last week, we rallied and exemplified grit and determination today,” said MHS coach Aaron Brown. “Each golfer faced adversity during their round and handled it well.”
Andrew Rabe led MHS with a 77, followed by Colten Montgomery-82, Dayne Johnson-82 and Nick Wever-83.
The Monarchs will host their invitational on Wednesday at Darby Creek.
JA, NU golfers open
Jonathan Alder’s and North Union’s girls golf teams got the 2021 seasons underway at the Central Buckeye Conference preseason tournament recently held at Mill Creek Golf Course.
The Lady Pioneers took second place in the Kenton Trail Division of the tournament with a team score of 424.
Bellefontaine took first place with a score of 409.
Maggie Matessa led the Lady Pioneers with a 91. Sarah Sowers tallied a 98 and Cadence Gargal stroked a 117 for the day.
In the Mad River Division, the Lady Cats took the fourth spot with a team score of 481.
Benjamin Logan won the match with a score of 359.
Madelyn Taylor led the Lady Cats with a 105. Lilly Taylor tallied a 110 and Charlee Brestle scored a 127.
Both teams will return to action Wednesday against each other at Mill Creek.
Lady Cardinals fall
Triad’s girls fell to Northeastern, 255-287.
Alli Gregg led the Lady Cardinals with a 65, followed by Chloe Honchell-72, Ella Campbell-73 and Kame Dingledine-77.
