A pair of local high school golf teams took the top two places during Tuesday’s 13th annual Fairbanks Panther Invitational at Darby Creek.
The host Panthers claimed the top spot with a team score of 319, while Jonathan Alder was the runner-up with 335.
Pleasant was third with 353, followed by Kenton Ridge-353, Buckeye Valley-357, East Knox-367, Madison Plains-376, West Jefferson-377, Northeastern-387, North Union-390, Centerburg-418 and West Liberty-437.
Justin Brackenridge and Travis Brake each shot a 77 for Fairbanks.
They were followed by Logan Bocsy-82, Seth Payne-83, Alex Crowe-83 and Aidan Wilson-87.
Mychal McKelvey topped the Pioneers with a 77, while Nick Reader led North Union with an 83.
No other NU or Alder scores were available.
East Knox’s Drew Salyers was the medalist for the match with a three-under-par 69.
Cardinals triumph
Triad’s boys golf team opened its season by beating Southeastern, 199-250.
James Russell of Triad was the medalist of the match as he carded a 48.
He was followed by Devin Butz-50, Hunter Talbot-50, Coy Knotts-51, Jalen Nott-56 and Maison Johnson-63.
