All-Ohio basketball honors have been bestowed upon a pair of local high school hoopsters.
Macy Miller, a junior from Fairbanks, and North Union sophomore Abbey Price, have been named to the state’s honorable mention list for girls Division III.
The honors have been announced by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.
Both were among the leading scorers for successful hoop squads this past season.
Fairbanks finished second in the Ohio Heritage Conference North Division with a 12-4 record.
The Lady Panthers placed three games behind Mechanicsburg (12-4) in the division standings.
FHS had its most successful campaign in several years with an overall record of 17-6.
Miller finished as the OHC’s third-leading rebounder with an average of 10.9 boards per game.
The circuit’s top rebounder was Springfield Catholic Central’s Mallory Mullen (12.8).
Ironically, Miller finished second to Mullen last spring during the Division III state high jump event that was held at Westerville North High School.
Mullen set a new D-III state record of 5-10, while Miller was the runner-up at 5-5.
Miller was third in the conference with blocked shots per game at 1.7 and steals at 4.6.
She was also fifth in field goal percentage at 50.7&.
Miller, who missed the final three games of the season with knee problems, averaged 12.2 points per game.
Price helped lead the Lady Cats (21-3 overall) to the Mad River Division championship of the Central Buckeye Conference.
North Union ran the table in the circuit and finished with a 10-0 record.
Price averaged 12.4 points and six rebounds per game.
She also dished for 3.6 assists per outing.
Price shot 44% from the floor, including 41% from beyond the three-point arc.
She also connected on 76% of her free throw opportunities.
