Fairbanks’ boys soccer squad battled Greenon to a 1-1 stalemate on Thursday.
It took 14 minutes to break the seal and Fairbanks was first on the scoreboard.
Daniel Montgomery found the net after a corner kick dropped in the middle of the box.
The ball was deflected by the crossbar and goalie a few times before Montgomery was able to capitalize on the opportunity.
Greenon worked the advantage of a corner kick 10 minutes later.
A header to the goal tied the contest at 1-1.
A few minutes into the second stanza, a Greenon player earned a red card.
That resulted in an 11-10 player advantage for the Panthers for the remainder of the game.
Despite a number of attacks on goal, Fairbanks couldn’t get the ball past the Greenon keeper and the game ended in the first stalemate of the season.
Panther keeper Greg Dean was credited with six saves.
