Fairbanks’ girls basketball team upped its record to 3-5 with Saturday’s 59-41 victory over Elgin.
The Lady Panthers shot 34 percent from the floor to win the game.
FHS limited the Comets to just three points during the first period and held a 15-3 lead.
Elgin narrowed its halftime deficit to 24-20.
Fairbanks, however, got hot in the third set and took a 50-28 lead at the end of the third quarter.
The Lady Panthers will host Grandview on Monday, Dec. 30.

Lady Cats beat BV
North Union’s girls came within a game of equaling their 2018-19 win total by beating Buckeye Valley, 50-40, on Saturday.
The outcome pushed NU’s record to 6-1 for the season, one victory shy of last year’s seven total wins.
NU held a 13-11 lead at the end of the opening period, but limited the Barons to 12 points over the second and third stanzas.
The Lady Cats held a 24-15 margin at halftime and took a 31-23 lead into the final quarter.
Journey Blevins led NU with 12 points.
She was joined in double figures by Madison Amstutz (11) and Jordyn Hoffman (10).
NU will travel to Cardington on Friday.

JA girls fall
Jonathan Alder’s girls basketball team dropped its first game of the 2019-20 season on Saturday.
The Lady Pioneers slipped to 7-1 with a 46-43 loss to Columbus Bishop Hartley.
The Hawks used a 21-10 scoring advantage during the fourth quarter to seal the win.
JA got off to a slow start and trailed, 11-6, by the end of the first period.
The scoring was reversed during the second quarter (11-6 in JA’s favor) with the score tied at 17-17 by halftime.
Alder regained a 33-25 margin by the end of the third set.
Bishop Hartley took a 46-40 lead in the final two minutes of the game.
Abby Jones knocked down a trifecta to pull Alder to within 46-43.
The Lady Pioneers, who will host Dublin Coffman on Saturday, then missed a potential game-tying trifecta at the final buzzer.

Lady Monarchs fall
Marysville’s girls slipped to 2-6 overall and 2-2 in the Ohio Capital Conference Central Division after Friday’s 65-54 loss at Dublin Coffman.
MHS held a 16-14 edge at the conclusion of the opening quarter, but tallied only nine markers during the ensuing period.
Coffman took a 31-25 lead at halftime and went into the final stanza with a 42-37 advantage.
The Lady Monarchs will travel to Teays Valley on Friday to face Dublin Jerome.

Triad girls drop game
The Lady Cardinals slipped to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the Ohio Heritage Conference with Saturday’s 52-49 loss to Riverside.
Caiti LeVan and twin sister Frani both tossed in eight points during the opening period as Triad raced to a 21-13 lead.
The Lady Cardinals could not sustain that type of offensive output over the next eight minutes.
They tallied only five markers during the ensuing quarter, as the Pirates took a 29-26 margin at halftime.
Frani Levan caught fire during the third set and tallied 12 points.
Triad held a 38-36 lead going into the fourth period, but fell short at the end.
