These Fairbanks High School volleyball lettermen helped lead the squad to a three-set triumph over Northeastern on Tuesday. Fairbanks’ varsity volleyball record rose to 19-0 overall and 13-0 in the Ohio Heritage Conference on Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers downed Northeastern 25-12, 25-14, 25-22.
Stats for the match were as follows:
-Megan King: 11/15 attacks, five kills;
-Mikayla Mansfield: 11/11 serving, five points, 19/24 passing;
-Abbey Hubbs: 22/25 passing, 15/16 attacks, two kills;
-Kelsey Thorbahn: 15/15 serving, three aces, nine points, 16/18 passing, 18/21 attacks, six kills;
-Brooklyn Kleiber: 12/12 attacks, three kills;
-Kas. Carstensen: 17/18 attacks, nine kills;
-Kai. Carstensen: 18/19 setting, six assists, 18/19 attacks, nine kills;
-Jenay Kocsis: 20/21 serving, five aces, 17 points, 41/41 setting, 15 assists;
-Gracie Tomblin: 9/10 serving, six points; 16/17 passing;
-Cassie Lamb: 13/14 setting, four assists.
The Lady Monarchs will host Mechanicsburg on Thursday. It will be senior night and the school’s 1977 state championship volleyball team will also be recognized.
Lady Monarchs fall
The Lady Monarch varsity spikers faced top state-ranked Dublin Coffman on Tuesday.
“The girls faced the challenge with grit and connection,” said head coach Bethany Bentz. “We went out to compete, playing each point to a battle.”
The Lady Shamrocks won the match by scores of 25-10, 25-6, 25-6.
“We played gritty defense against a quick, powerful, dominating offense,” said Bentz.
Marysville was led by Madi Bentz with 16 digs, followed by Carissa Baker with seven.
Baker tallied a trio of kills, Kaylee Rich had two, Lily Keber notched two and Sara Berkland added another.
Bunsold squads split
Marysville’s seventh-grade spikers downed Olentangy Berkshire 25-19, 25-14, 25-21.
Sophie Little led the Monarchs with six aces. Morgan Shick was the leading passer with 26, while Bella Fox added 14 and Natalie McNicholas had 12.
Rylee Dundon tallied eight attacks and led the Monarchs in sets.
The eighth-grade fell to Berkshire 17-25, 19-25.
Madison Fluharty had four aces, while Peyton Ingle led the Monarchs with 10 digs.
Carys Gossett, Ingle, Jillian Gardener and Fluharty all contributed with eight attacks.
Chloe Koren led the team with sets and Gossett and Gardner both recorded a pair of blocks.
