The Lady Panther girls golf team returns five lettermen from the 2020 season.
They include seniors Mary Weisburn, Gabby Vamos, Veronique Grand, Janie Clayton and Shelby Burns.
They helped lead Fairbanks to an overall record of 51-13 during the regular season.
The Lady Panthers also claimed an Ohio Heritage Conference title by winning all seven of their circuit matches.
FHS placed second during the sectional tournament and third in the district competition.
Other returning players include junior Madeline Headings and sophomores Julie Headings and Alice Ruff.
Newcomers to the program are senior MaCoy Green, sophomore Cassidy Jones and freshmen Caitlyn Hayes and Nicole Nabbale.
The goal is for the Lady Panther team to continue a tradition of winning its sixth OHC championship and playing in the Central District tournament at the beginning of October.
“We also have hopes of making it to the state tournament,” said coach Chuck Lehman.
The team got the 2021 season off to a solid start with a championship at the Locust Hills Invitational earlier this month.
Boys have new coach
The Panther boys will be under the direction of new head coach Zach Brown.
Returning lettermen include Alex Crowe, Chase Brackenridge, Tyler Ufferman, Andy Higinbotham and Andrew Crowe.
Newcomers to the team are Cole Eger and Devin Emans.
Brown said the team’s goals for the 2021 campaign are to win championships in the Ohio Heritage Conference, the sectional and district.
“We would also like to qualify for the state tournament,” said Brown.
The Panthers won the Russ Hogue Memorial tournament earlier this month.
That helped them to a solid start for the current campaign.
