Tinley Graves scored 18 points Tuesday evening as Marysville’s varsity girls basketball team downed Hilliard Bradley, 48-40, in non-conference action.
In doing so, the Lady Monarchs improved their record to 4-2.
Graves hit four trifectas and was a perfect six-for-six from the free throw line.
Prior to the game, the MHS program took the time to honor special teachers during the annual Teacher Appreciation event.
Both teams got off to a slow start on offense.
The Lady Monarchs led after one period of play by a 5-3 count.
That soon changed for MHS as it outscored the Lady Jags, 12-5, in the second quarter.
In doing so, Marysville held a 17-8 advantage at halftime.
Graves led all first-half scorers with six points.
The second half was much different than the first.
Both teams took the lid off the baskets and put points on the board.
MHS led 35-23 at the end of the third quarter.
The Jaguars scored the first 10 points of the final set and pulled to within 35-33.
That was as close as Bradley could get.
The Lady Monarchs hit their free throws down the home stretch to win the game.
Marysville will host Central Crossing on Friday.
