Green breaks another FHS track record; Panther teams in second after Ohio Heritage prelimsFairbanks’ track and field teams are currently in second place after the Ohio Heritage Conference North Division prelims were held at Northeastern.
West Liberty-Salem currently leads both the boys and girls meets with respective point totals of 27 and 32.
The FHS boys are in second place with 20 points and the Lady Panthers have tallied 29.
Triad’s girls are in third place with 26 points.
The Cardinal boys are fifth with 10 points.
Fairbanks’ Kinley Green broke the school’s 42-year-old girls record for the 100 meter dash.
Her prelim time of 12.69 just nipped Lora Chappelear’s 1980 mark of 12.7.
Earlier this season, Green broke Chappelear’s 200 dash record that had been held since 1977.
There were several events that were scored.
Both of the 4×800 relays were run as finals.
The Panther boys team of Jack Nicol, Will Schlueter, Zeke Gingerich and Caleb Wenger placed second with a time of 9:01.78.
Triad’s boys were third in a time of 9:06.74.
The Cardinals’ team consisted of Joe Ferguson, Mason Harper, Jacob Haser and Wyatt Robison.
FHS’ girls 4×800 relay team of Kate Ruff, Elaina Lahmers, Addie Thrush and Rachael Hoover was the runner-up with a time of 10:11.60.
Triad’s team of Mia LeMay, Arlo Monroe, Shalyn Smiles and Ellie Johnson was fifth in 13:30.10.
West Liberty-Salem won both of the 4×800 relay events.

-Boys long jump: Kaleb Bosworth, FHS, first, 20-4; Andy Higinbotham, FHS, fifth, 18-2.75;
-Girls discus: Mia LeMay, third, 94-4; Kennedy Knurek, FHS, fourth, 88-4; Katelyn Vollrath, FHS, fifth, 80-11;
-Girls high jump: Macy Miller, FHS, first, 5-4; Cayla Eaton, Triad, second, 4-10.
-Girls pole vault: Johnson, Triad, first, 8-9; Jordan Perry, FHS, fourth, 7-0; Elizabeth Tillman, FHS, sixth, 7-0.
