The Marysville High School football team thought it was going to play its next post-season game virtually in its backyard.
However, as ESPN college football commentator Lee Corso would say, “not so fast, my friend.”
The Friday evening contest against Toledo Whitmer was originally going to be played at Bellefontaine High School, about 20 minutes up the road on U.S. 33.
Monarch Nation will still make the trek along 33 for Friday’s 7 p.m. kickoff, but it won’t be stopping in Bellefontaine.
Instead, the Monarchs and Whitmer will square off at Lima Senior High School in the Division I-Region 2 semifinal contest.
The switch was announced by the Ohio High School Athletic Association Monday afternoon.
Tim Streid of the OHSAA told the Journal-Tribune it was a better fit to switch for the travel by both teams.
The other regional semifinal between Springfield and Findlay was scheduled to be played at Lima.
It has been switched to Bellefontaine, also for travel convenience for those two teams.
“We apologized to the four schools and explained that we had the right two stadiums, but didn’t put the correct game in the correct stadium,” said Stried.
“It was early enough that we were able to switch.”
Lima Senior is approximately a one-hour drive from Marysville.
It is located at 1 Spartan Way in Lima.
Directions to Lima Senior High School are as follows:
Take U.S. 33 west from Marysville toward Bellefontaine.
Stay on 33 until you get to Route 117 North (Huntsville-Lima).

Enter the next round-about and take the second exit onto Bellefontaine Ave.
