A pair of local high school basketball players who will continue their careers on the collegiate level, have earned All-Ohio honors.
Jonathan Alder senior Peyton Heiss has been named to the state’s first team in Division II.
Marysville senior Jason Moore has earned special mention honors for Division I.
Heiss will be continuing his hoops career at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
Moore will play at Ashland University.
Both were the leading scorers for their team this year.
Heiss averaged 21.2 points per game as the Pioneers finished the 2023-24 campaign with a 13-9 record.
Jonathan Alder captured its first boys basketball district championship since 1979.
Heiss was also named the Central District player of the year for Division II.
“This is a personal goal Peyton has wanted since his freshman season,” said Pioneer head coach Derek Dicke. “A lot of hard work and unseen hours of work have gone into him accomplishing this.
“He deserves all the accolades he is receiving,” said the coach. “His teammates and I couldn’t be happier for him.
“He is a legend to our program and someone who represents all our core values.”
Moore, like Heiss, surpassed the 1,000-point milestone for his high school career during the past season.
The 6-8 fourth-year man averaged 20.3 points and eight rebounds per game for the Monarchs, who concluded the season with a 13-10 record.
Marysville went 7-3 in Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division contests, which was good for the championship.
