“We’re going to try and give this season a go amid the virus,” said Jonathan Alder boys bowling coach Rusty Walter.
The Pioneer team is going into the campaign with a veteran roster.
The boys return a pair of senior lettermen in Nathan Clark and Jackson Lane.
“Nathan is very smooth and an athletic left-handed bowler,” said Walter. “Jackson can bowl with either hand and will anchor our team.”
Additional lettermen include juniors John Jordan, Levi Honigford, Dominic Dellapina and Matt McMillan.
“John and Levi have extensive varsity experience and are greatly improved from last season,” said Walter.
“All of our bowlers have worked extremely hard over the spring and summer and are ready for their time.”
Mike Walter takes over as the Lady Pioneers’ head coach.
“Seniors Lana Kirts and Jade Bay will lead a very talented team,” he said. “Lana is a three-year starter with a lot of experience and is a great leader.
“Jade is in the starting lineup for the first time,” said the coach. “She has been working on her game extremely hard and we’re excited for what she can accomplish this year.”
Rounding out the girls varsity roster are juniors Kadie Walter, Shea Huntington and Satavia Kempton; and sophomore Danielle Phipps.
“Kadie, Shea and Stavia will be starting their third seasons and have steadily improved,” said Walter.
Phipps is one of the rare girls two-handed bowlers.
“She is becoming very good at the skill and is very coachable,” said Walter.
Walter said the Lady Pioneers also have a good number of JV bowlers.
“We’re just hoping we can get some bowling in this season,” he said.
