Jonathan Alder High School is the home of a pair of All-Ohio girls basketball players.
Senior Mary Ferrito and sophomore Evan Platfoot have been named to all-state accolades for Division II.
The honors have been announced by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.
To earn consideration for All-Ohio, athletes must be selected for honors in their district.
Ferrito was named to D-II’s All-Ohio second team, while Platfoot was named to the state’s honorable mention list.
The pair helped the Lady Pioneers capture the Kenton Trail Division championship of the Central Buckeye Conference with a 10-0 record.
Jonathan Alder finished the 2021-2022 campaign with an overall mark of 19-5 under first-year head coach Allen Eggleston.
The team earned a berth in its fourth consecutive district tournament.
The Lady Pioneers fell to Columbus Bishop Hartley, 51-45 in overtime, during the district championship game a month ago.
Ferrito was among the conference leaders this past season in a couple of categories.
She was the circuit’s leading scorer with a per-game average of 18.8 (452 total points) and was fifth in field goal percentage with a mark of 46.6.
Ferrito was a deep-shooting threat all season as she swished 39.6% of her three-point attempts. She hit 40 trifectas in 101 attempts.
She was the Lady Pioneers’ team leader in free throw shooting.
From the charity stripe, Ferrito was 74-of-96 for 77.1%.
She also surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her four-year varsity career earlier in the campaign.
Ferrito led the team in rebounds with 127 (5.3 per contest) and dished for 2.5 assists.
Platfoot earned her second varsity letter during the 2021-2022 season.
She was second to Ferrito in scoring with 243 points (a per-game average of 10.1) and averaged 3.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
Platfoot shot 33.2% from the field and 57& from the free throw line.
