A major turnaround from about the midway point of the season has helped propel a pair of Jonathan Alder High School football players to All-Ohio accolades.
The Division III team was named today by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.
Running back Cameron Jewell and linebacker Chase Maynard both earned honorable mention.
The Pioneers began the 2021 campaign by dropping their first three games.
Once the team became untracked under first-year head coach Nathan Snedeker, it was off to the races.
The Pioneers won six of their final eight games of the season.
Jonathan Alder finished the regular season at 6-4 overall before falling to Columbus Eastmoor Academy in the opening round of the state playoffs.
JA went 4-1 during Central Buckeye Conference contests and placed as runner-up to London in the circuit’s Kenton Trail Division.
Jewell, a sophomore, finished as the fourth-leading rusher in the CBC.
The transfer from West Jefferson concluded the season with 1,180 yards and scored 13 touchdowns.
Maynard, a senior, has been a defensive standout for the Pioneers for several seasons.
During the regular season, he tallied 104 tackles (73 solos).
and returned an interception for a touchdown.
