Jonathan Alder High School officials are searching for a new boys head basketball coach.
Brent Cahill, who guided the Pioneers to a 92-59 record over the past six seasons, recently submitted a letter of resignation from the position.
Cahill is not on the teaching staff in the district.
The position was officially listed as being open earlier this week.
The Journal-Tribune made several attempts to contact Cahill and athletic director Tom Vargo during the course of the week.
Those attempts were unsuccessful.
The newspaper was able to speak to high school principal Mike Aurin this morning.
“The position was just listed as being open on Monday,” Aurin said.
He added district officials will begin the process of screening applicants in the near future.
“We want to hire a new coach as soon as possible,” he said. “We know that the summer basketball season (with camps and other activities) is approaching.
“However, we don’t want to do it (quickly) just to fill the position,” said Aurin. “We want to find the coach that we need for our program.”
The Ohio High School Athletic Association web site states the position will be open until it is filled.
Those with questions should contact Vargo at vargoto@japioneers.org.
