Jonathan Alder’s baseball team breezed to a 10-0 victory over Bexley on Thursday.
The triumph came during the Division II sectional championship game on the Pioneers’ home diamond.
JA (16-5) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and coasted to the run-rule victory.
Logan Smith tossed a two-hitter for the Pioneers.
Alder will open district action on Tuesday against Bishop Hartley. The game will be played at 5 p.m. at a location to be determined.
Alder girls extinguish Stars
JA’s softball team followed suit during its Division II sectional title game as the Lady Pioneers (17-5) rolled over Columbus Centennial, 13-0, in five innings.
Katelynn Perkins limited the Stars to just one hit.
Alder tallied 11 runs in the first inning.
Jonathan Alder will travel to Olentangy for a 5 p.m. game on Tuesday in the district semifinals.
The Lady Pioneers will tangle with Buckeye Valley.
Season ends for FHS
The 2018 season concluded for Fairbanks’ softball team with a 7-5 tournament loss at Pleasant.
The Spartans plated five runs in the bottom of the first, but FHS (11-13) tied the game at 5-5 after three frames.
Pleasant scored the go-ahead and winning runs in the fourth.
Allison Kise had two of Fairbanks’ three hits. She also drove in two runs.
Emily Wilson yielded eight hits and fanned five.
Lady Cardinals fall
Triad’s softball team fell to Franklin-Monroe, 8-3, in Division IV tourney action.
Kendell Hughes hit a homer for Triad, while Shelby Sheets finished with two hits.
Joni Russell pitched for the Lady Cardinals, who finished the season with an 8-12 record.
