A 19-7 lead after the opening quarter helped translate into another victory for Jonathan Alder’s boys basketball team.
The Pioneers upped their record to 15-4 with a 38-32 triumph at Westerville Central.
Alder’s defense limited the Warhawks’ offensive output.
Central hit only 12 field goals in 39 attempts for 30%.
JA took a 30-17 advantage at halftime.
Neither team lighted up the scoreboard during the third set.
As such, JA took a 33-19 spread into the final quarter.
Central battled back with 13 points during the fourth period, but the Pioneers were able to withstand that rally.
The game was evenly-played.
Jon Alder held a 24-21 edge on the boards and committed seven turnovers, to six for Central.
Peyton Heiss and Taber Headings both tallied 10 points for the Pioneers.
Grant Welsch and Joey Walker each scored seven and Tyler Begin added four.
Alder will play at Kenton Ridge on Friday.
