Jonathan Alder’s volleyball team scored a 25-12, 25-15, 25-11 victory over Shawnee on Thursday.
“It was a really good match for our middle hitters,” said Pioneer coach Joe Ross.
Olivia Ishmael and Hannah Beach combined for 14 kills.
Lizzie Lombardi led the team’s serving with four aces.
Jonathan Alder (9-6 overall and 4-2 in the Central Buckeye Conference) will host London on Tuesday.
MHS girls fall
Marysville’s varsity volleyball squad gave state-ranked Olentangy a battle on Thursday.
In the end, however, the first-place (Ohio Capital Conference Central Division) Braves won 25-22, 25-20, 25-15.
“The first two sets were neck-and-neck,” said MHS head coach Bethany Bentz. “Both teams switched leads before Olentangy came out on top.”
Madison Fluharty led the 10-7 Lady Monarchs with nine attacks.
Carys Gossett finished with five, while Ella Morris and Jillian Gardner each tallied four.
Katie Palmer topped Marysville with 14 assists and Morris added eight.
Morgan Shick came through with 23 digs.
Morris finished with 12 digs and Jayanti Geertes added 11.
The Lady Monarchs will return to action on Thursday when they host Dublin Jerome.
NU spikers drop match
North Union slipped to 3-12 overall and 1-5 in the CBC with a 22-25, 17-25, 19-25 loss to Urbana.
Hope Hall and Zoe Wedding both tallied four kills.
Candace Holloway and Kayla Sedgewick both added three.
Holloway and Wedding both notched five assists.
Sedgwick led with 24 digs.
The Lady Cats will play at Johnstown-Monroe on Saturday.
