Journey Blevins scored 15 points on Saturday as North Union’s girls nipped Springfield Northwestern, 38-31.
In doing so, the Lady Cats upped their record to 11-8.
NU got off to a slow start and trailed, 12-5, after the first quarter.
Northwestern’s offense soured during the second period and NU tied the score at 15-all by halftime.
The Lady Cats (who will travel to Urbana on Wednesday) raced to a 32-24 margin by the conclusion of the third set.

Lady Cardinals win
Triad girls hoop boss Erica Trainer praised the team’s defensive effort during a 43-21 win over Northeastern.
The Lady Cardinals improved to 3-17 overall and 3-12 in the Ohio Heritage Conference.
Triad took a 12-8 edge after the first period and a 26-13 margin by halftime.
The Lady Cardinals (who will host Franklinton Prep for Senior Night on Thursday) took a 35-16 lead after three quarters.

Panthers fall
Fairbanks’ boys slipped below .500 at 9-10 with a 63-33 loss at Heath.
The Bulldogs, who are ranked seventh in the AP state Division II poll, upped their record to 19-0.
The Panthers managed only a pair of points during the opening period.
FHS (which will travel to Mechanicsburg on Tuesday) trailed, 18-2, at the end of the initial set.
Heath held a 37-14 margin at halftime and a 45-23 spread after three quarters.

Fairbanks’ girls slipped to 8-10 with a 63-21 loss at Mechanicsburg.
JA’s girls fell to 17-3 after dropping a 59-48 setback to Tecumseh. It was JA’s first conference loss in nine games.

St. John’s goes to 16-0
The St. John’s Lutheran School girls basketball team concluded its regular season with a 16-0 record.
The Lady Jaguars captured the COAL regular reason title with a 16-8 win over Genoa.
Anna Lynch led St. John’s with nine points.
Mya Balderson tallied four, followed by Sarah Lynch-two and Hannah Boehm-one.
Grace Gorton led the team with seven rebounds and Anna Lynch added six.
Annay Lynch and Boehm combined for five steals, while McKenn Fonner finished with a pair of assists.
