The girls soccer squads from Marysville and Jonathan Alder made a special trip to play a game on Thursday.
The local teams squared off at MAPFRE Stadium, which is the home of the Columbus Crew.
The Lady Monarchs upped their record to 3-1-1 by prevailing, 2-0, in two overtime sessions.
Both of Marysville’s goals came from Kindell Duke.
Brielle Young of MHS was credited with two saves.
Alder’s Sophie Zawodny turned back nine Monarch shots.
The Lady Pioneers slipped to 1-3-1 with the setback.
FHS girls win
The Lady Panthers of Fairbanks moved to 4-0-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in the Ohio Heritage Conference with a 3-0 win at Greenon.
Elaina Lahmers opened the scoring in the 16th minute on an assist by Sami Adkins.
A battle in the midfield ensued for the remainder of the half to take the Panthers into the break with a 1-0 lead.
The second half continued to be a battle, but the Lady Panthers scored in the 18th minute from another ball by Adkins to Rebecca Dean.
The third goal of the match came on a free kick by Emma Cook to the back post.
Anna Poling connected with the ball to put the Panthers up 3-0 with less than 14 minutes remaining in the match.
The Knights pressed in the final minutes of the match.
FHS keeper Avery Groves deflected a rocket shot over to crossbar to preserve her fourth consecutive shutout.
She was credited with three saves.
Monarchs fall
Marysville’s boys soccer team dropped a 3-2 verdict to Westerville South.
A pair of early goals by Westerville South set the tone for the night.
The Monarchs tied the game in the second half, but the Wildcats tallied a late game-winning goal.
Zach McIntosh and Ryan Walters scored MHS’ goals.
Grant Kaifas finished with six saves in the net.
