The Marysville Lady Monarch varsity soccer squad broke into the win column in big fashion on Tuesday.
Playing under a dark and threatening sky, the MHS girls (1-3-1) roared past Central Crossing, 10-0.
The outcome of the contest was never really in doubt.
The Lady Monarchs scored early and often against beleaguered Comet goal keeper Deanna Thompson, who did finish the contest with eight saves.
Marysville controlled field position and ball possession for much of the contest and kept the Comets’ defenders on their heels.
MHS put half of its goals on the scoreboard within the first 26 minutes of the opening stanza.
Paige Krueger’s second goal of the night pushed the Lady Monarchs (who will play at Delaware Hayes on Thursday) out to a 6-0 margin with 10:19 left until the break.
JoJo Eberhart scored back-to-back goals within the final 1:49 before intermission.
Those scores sent Marysville into the turn with a 9-0 lead.
Eberhart, Krueger and Cam Lee each tallied two goals on the night for the Lady Monarchs.
Single goals came from Megan Daniel, Kasey Duke, Leah Brown and Emily Thomas.
Eberhart also contributed to the offense with a pair of assists.
Single assists came from Lee, Makenna Renevier and Thomas.
Brielle Young and Shannon Cordle split time in the net for the Lady Monarchs.
Young went unchallenged by Central Crossing’s offense.
Cordle finished her stint in the net with a pair of saves.
