The Lady Monarchs came out on fire and continued it throughout the game, pummeling Thomas Worthington 12-1.
Marysville, which claimed its 20th victory in 21 outings, plated seven runs in the home half of the opening inning and pulled away to the victory.
“We started the game hot and that helped set the tone,” said MHS head coach Jennifer Segner-Maxwell. “We kept it up throughout the contest.”
The Lady Monarchs batted around against Cardinal pitcher Faith Yoho in the first inning.
The frame was highlighted by a pair of two-run homers from Camryn Harbold and Hannah Pack.
Avery Henry drove in a couple of runs with a double, while Abby Christian singled in another score.
Marysville’s offensive fireworks came after starting pitcher Taryn Born retired Thomas Worthington in order during the top of the first.
Born pitched three of the five innings. She did not allow a hit and struck out four.
She did not permit a base runner and finished one frame – the fourth –by tossing only three pitches.
Christian allowed a trio of hits and the Cardinals’ lone run during her two innings in the pitching circle.
She fanned three and did not issue any free passes.
The Lady Monarchs padded their upper hand to 10-0 in the second.
Harbold got things started by drawing a walk from Yoho.
Abby Gindlesberger then beat out a bunt for a base hit.
With one down, Christian brought in both base runners with a two-bagger.
She was lifted for courtesy runner Chloe Heminger.
Henry singled and Pack gave Marysville a 10-0 lead with a run-producing single.
The Lady Monarchs’ final two runs came in the fourth.
Gindlesberger led off and smashed a solo dinger against Thomas Worthington relief pitcher Sophie Newsom.
It was Gindlesberger’s team-leading sixth round-tripper of the season.
Maya Segner later singled in Marysville’s final run of the game.
Christian went back to the circle for the visitors’ portion of the fifth.
A base hit and fielder’s choice led to Thomas Worthington’s lone run of the contest.

The Marysville JV softball team defeated Thomas Worthington by a 15-0 verdict.
Abigail Wilkerson pitched the first four innings. She struck out eight and allowed two hits.
Savannah Jenkins came in to pitch in the fifth and completed the shortened game by striking out two.
The offense was led by Abby Strahm, who tallied three hits. Wilkerson contributed two.
