History was made at Marysville High School Wednesday evening when the Lady Monarch wrestling squad defeated Olentangy Orange, 48-30.
The contest marked the first girls dual mat match with full teams in MHS’ long athletic heritage.
“We had a very good crowd here and I think the fans enjoyed it,” said Marysville head coach Shawn Andrews. “It was exciting for the girls to have the opportunity to compete in this dual match.
“This was one of only two dual matches for full girls teams in the state of Ohio of which I am aware this season.”
Marysville won eight of the 10 bouts that were contested.
Match results were as follows:

The Lady Monarchs will return to the mat for the state girls tournament.
That event will be held Feb. 22 and 23 at Hilliard Davidson High School.
