The Lady Monarchs of Marysville tipped off the 2020-21 campaign with a 60-35 triumph at Thomas Worthington on Friday.
MHS took a 9-8 edge after the first period and a 21-16 margin at halftime.
The Lady Monarchs (who will host Bloom Carroll on Monday) opened up their offense in the third period.
Kass Lee tallied 10 points during the quarter and Marysville climbed to a 48-23 advantage.
Lee led MHS with 16 points, while Ava Krutowskis added 15.
They were joined in double figures by Tinley Graves, who scored 11.
Also scoring for Marysville were Alyssa Strahm-five, Cam Lee-five and Ava Wilkerson, Leah Brown, Jo Jo Eberhart and Abby Williams-each with two.

Cardinals fall
Triad’s boys varsity hoopsters slipped to 0-2 on the season with Friday’s 56-51 loss to Mechanicsburg.
It was also the Cardinals’ second loss against Ohio Heritage Conference squads.
The Indians led, 16-14, after the first quarter.
Triad took a 27-24 edge into the halftime break.
Mechanicsburg returned from the intermission and took a 38-35 margin into the final quarter.
The Indians won the game at the free throw line, hitting 28-of-47.
Triad shot 13 charity tosses and connected on eight.
The Cardinals will play at Madison Plains this evening.
Batai Lease was the lone Cardinal in double figures as he tallied 24 points.

Jaguars notch first win
The St. John’s Lutheran School boys hoop squad recently won its first game of the 2020-21 season.
The Jaguars claimed victory by a 47-27 count over Oakstone Academy.
Jackson Burns led a balanced St. John’s scoring attack with 14 points.
Nate Fisher tallied 11, followed by Blake Gorton-nine, Gianni Russo-six, Lincoln Thrush, Mac Rausch and Cody Gallmeyer-two each and Logan Landry-one.
St. John’s opened the campaign with setbacks at the hands of Delaware Christian (29-19), Madison Christian (27-23) and Shekinah Christian (41-38).
Gorton led the Jaguars with 10 points against Delaware Christian and with nine against Madison Christian.
He also tallied a team-high 11 against Shekinah Christian.
