The Marysville High School girls varsity soccer team battled to another stalemate.
The Lady Monarchs kicked their way to a 1-1 tie with Olentangy Berlin on Tuesday.
The match was played on Marysville’s home field.
Both teams swapped field position and ball possession for much of the 80 minutes worth of action.
MHS keeper Brielle Young and Bears net minder Jessica Burchinal each came up with a handful of saves during the initial 40 minutes.
As such, the teams battled to a 0-0 deadlock by halftime.
Leah Brown tallied the Lady Monarchs’ (5-5-3) lone goal.
Olentangy Berlin’s score came from Reese Hinkle.
Young finished the contest with eight saves, while Burchinal tallied six.
The Lady Monarchs will host Olentangy Orange on Thursday.
MHS boys fall
The Marysville boys soccer squad dropped a 1-0 verdict at Olentangy Berlin.
The Bears had control in the first half, forcing MHS keeper Grant Kaifas into a low-diving save.
That came from a Berlin free kick midway through the half to keep things level.
The Monarchs worked hard defensively and looked to strike on the counter.
A low shot from JJ Riggsby, though, was stopped by Berlin goalkeeper Connor Sexton.
Berlin upped the pressure during the second half.
That forced Kaifas into several more diving saves.
The Bears found the breakthrough with slightly less than 19 minutes remaining in the match.
A corner kick was put away after bouncing around the box.
The Monarchs (2-8-2) return to action on Thursday at Hilliard Davidson.
