The Lady Monarch softball bats broke out for 20 runs during a game on Saturday against Columbus Bishop Ready.
The sticks continued to stay strong on Monday during a 14-1, five-inning victory over Dublin Jerome.
“Our bats stayed hot,” said MHS head coach Jennifer Segner-Maxwell. “We just have to keep that up.”
Marysville improved its record to 11-1 by ripping a trio of Celtic pitchers for 12 hits.
One of the highlights was Abby Gindlesberger’s solo homer in the bottom half of the second.
It was her fourth homer in two games as she blasted a trio of dingers on Saturday.
Jerome took a 1-0 lead in the visitors’ portion of the second inning.
MHS starting pitcher Abby Christian yielded a double to Lilly Nienavs.
The Celtic base runner then raced home on a base hit by Amber Lowry.
Christian surrendered four hits during the first two innings, but shut the Celtics down over the final three innings.
For the game, she yielded four hits, fanned six and did not walk a batter.
“Abby finishing with no walks is a huge improvement,” said Segner-Maxwell. “Our defense also played strong behind her (zero errors).
Marysville (which will play at Delaware Hayes today) took command of the contest during its second at-bat.
The Lady Monarchs teed off on Dublin starting pitcher Dylan Haines.
She lasted only 1 2/3 innings, giving up six hits and a like number of runs during that time.
Gindlesberger tied the game 1-1 with her homer.
Ashley Dunn doubled, went to third on a flyball out and scored on Hannah Pack’s sacrifice fly to give MHS a 2-1 lead.
Abri Schmutz singled and stole second.
Lexi Williams walked and both crossed the plate on Christian’s two-bagger.
Jalynn Young reached base on a fielder’s choice in which no out was recorded.
Young and courtesy runner Maya Segner were perched on the corners when Tareyn Born came to the plate.
She brought in Marysville’s final two runners of the inning on a double against reliever Caroline Grossi.
The Celtics made another pitching change in the third as Marysville pulled out to a 9-1 margin.
Jalen Hicks took a turn in the pitching circle, but had about as much success as her predecessors.
Gindlesberger’s double and free passes to Dunn and Pack juiced the sacks with one out.
Schmutz walked to plate a run and Christian later ripped a double that gave the Lady Monarchs their eight-run advantage.
Haines returned to pitch in the home half of the fourth, but it was the same old story.
Marysville climbed to a 14-1 margin during that inning.
Williams drove in a pair of runs with a two-bagger.
The other runs of the frame came when Avery Henry was plunked (the second straight hit batsman) with the bases full.
A wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by Pack brought in two other runs.
