Fairbanks’ varsity softball team began its spring break stretch in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. with a pair of victories.
The Lady Panthers clubbed Brownsville High School (Pennsylvania), 7-2, and edged Stevenson (Illinois) High School, 7-6.
Maddi Sines was the winning pitcher for FHS.
She allowed 11 hits, fanned five and issued one free pass.
The Lady Panthers tallied three runs in the visitors’ portion of the opening inning.
They added single runs in the third and fourth and tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the sixth.
Brownsville plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Claire Meihls and Jenna Dee both hit homers for Fairbanks.
Dee went three-for-three at the plate, while Anna Dulle and Macy Kise both had two hits.
Dee drove in three runs.

Kise took her turn in the pitching circle against Stevenson. She allowed eight hits and put eight strikeouts in the book. She walked six.
Fairbanks took a 4-0 lead after three innings.
Stevenson tied the score with four runs over the fourth and fifth innings.
FHS broke the stalemate with a run in the bottom of the sixth.
Stevenson tied the game in the seventh and took a 6-5 margin in the top of the eighth.
Fairbanks plated the winning runs in the home half of the eighth.
Dulle had two of the Lady Panthers’ seven hits.

“We played two very good teams,” said Fairbanks head coach Amy Sines. “We got ourselves out of some sticky situations by playing some really good defense, especially in the last game against Stevenson.”
Panthers drop game
Fairbanks’ baseball squad lost a 9-4 verdict to Revere High School of Michigan during a game at Myrtle Beach.
Hayden Queen, Cole Justus, Max Snyder and Jacob Woody each hit safely for Fairbanks.
Woody also drove in three runs.
Aidan Luellen, Dayne Madison and Carson Reames all saw work on the pitching mound.
Luellen pitched three innings and took the loss.

“Our pitchers kept us in the game, but a few misplayed balls in the outfield and an error led to runs for Revere,” said Panther coach Josh Rine. “They have a nice team and outplayed us.”
The Fairbanks softball and baseball teams will play additional games on spring break.
They will open the Ohio portoin of their 2024 schedules next Monday (April 1) when they host Mechanicsburg.
