Jonathan Alder’s softball squad captured the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail title with a 12-2 verdict over Springfield Shawnee.
The victory put the Lady Pioneers at 14-0 in the conference and 17-1 overall.
Alder plated five runs in the bottom of the fifth and pulled away for the victory.
JA ended the contest with the run rule by crossing the plate five times in the sixth.
Jonathan Alder ripped Shawnee’s pitching for 13 hits.
Shanna Higgins finished with four hits in as many trips to the plate. She also drove in three runs.
Kylie King went three-for-four and tallied a pair of ribbies.
Also hitting safely were Kiersten Dolby, Marlee Jacobs, Lizzie Lombardi, Evan Platfoot and Lilly Walker.
Alyssa Miller started in the pitching circle in order to give Jacobs some time off.
Miller went 4 1/3 innings to pick up the victory.
She fanned six, walked one and gave up four hits.
Natalie Neumeier finished with 1 2/3 innings of relief work.

Lady Monarchs fall
Marysville’s girls took an 8-4 loss to Olentangy Berlin on the chin.
The setback was the first for the Lady Monarchs since they returned from their spring break trip to Myrtle Beach.
It lowered MHS’ Ohio Capital Conference record to 8-1.
Marysville is now tied for first place in the Cardinal Division with Berlin.
The Lady Monarchs fell behind 3-1 after the third inning.
The Bears then plated five runs over the course of the fourth-through-sixth frames.
Taryn Born started in the pitching circle for Marysville and suffered the loss.
She yielded six hits and four earned runs in three innings.
Abby Christian also allowed four earned runs during her three innings of work.
The MHS pitchers combined to fan six batters.
Abby Gindlesberger, Haley Winans, Camryn Harbold and Hannah Pack each tallied two of Marysville’s 10 hits.
Born and Christian also hit safely.
MHS slipped to 20-2 overall for the season.
The Marysville JV team clubbed Berlin’s reserves 11-1.
The MHS offense was led by Abigail Wilkerson and Abby Strahm, who each tallied three hits.
Kallie Schweinfurth and Caitlin Rigel chipped in with two hits apiece.
Rigel went the distance in the circle and got the win in the shortened game. She gave up five hits and struck out three.

Cardinals triumph
Triad’s baseball team upped its record to 6-11 overall and 6-7 in the Ohio Heritage Conference with a 10-2 verdict over Springfield Catholic Central.
Derek Bails went two-for-four at the plate and drove in three runs.
Brant Bollack finished with two hits and had two ribbies.
Wyat Cole had one hit and also plated a pair of runs.
Gage Heitman, Logan Braun and Ayden Spriggs each tallied one hit.
Ty Thomas went the distance on the bump for the Cardinals.
He allowed seven hits and struck out one.

Triad girls drop game
Triad’s softball team lost 10-0 in five innings against Springfield Catholic Central.
Kaydee Roberts struck out four, but was tagged with the pitching loss.
Autumn Feasel and Hailey Blackburn both had a hit for Triad.
The Lady Cardinals slipped to 3-16 overall and 1-12 in the OHC.
