Jonathan Alder’s softball team posted a 2-1 record during its recent spring break trip to Florida.
The Lady Pioneers notched a 9-7 verdict over Port St. Joe High School.
Evan Platfoot had the big bat with three hits in four trips to the plate. She drove in a run.
Kiersten Dolby went three-for-five with two ribbies.
Natalie Neumeier ripped three base hits, while Anna Engle and Shanna Higgins both had two.
Pitcher Alyssa Miller surrendered eight hits in seven innings, along with seven earned runs. She struck out six and walked nine.
She was supported by an error-free defense.
Jonathan Alder’s defense had trouble (four errors) during a 17-7 setback at the hands of North Bay Haven High School.
Neumeier lasted only 2/3 of an inning in the circle. She allowed seven hits and seven runs (six of which were earned).
She issued four walks and struck out one batter.
Also pitching for Jonathan Alder were Macy Pruitt and Eliza Shuping.
Pruitt worked three innings.
She yielded seven hits and a like number of runs (five of which were earned). She walked a pair of batters and struck out one.
Shuping’s one inning of work resulted in four hits, three runs (all earned) and a walk.
Both squads finished with 13 hits.
Platfoot had four hits in as many trips to the plate.
Katelyn Rihl went three-for-three at the plate for Jonathan Alder and drove in a run.
Engle and Maggie McCoy both tallied two hits.
Also hitting safely were Dolby and Higgins.
Higgins drove in a pair of runs.
Jonathan Alder’s defense committed four fielding miscues.
The Lady Pioneers finished with a 9-3 victory over Marianna High School.
Miller went the distance in the pitching circle.
She allowed eight hits in seven innings of work.
Miller struck out five and issued a pair of free passes.
Only one of Marianna’s runs was earned.
The Lady Pioneers rapped 12 hits.
Dolby, Engle and Platfoot each finished with a pair of hits.
