Larry Fox has worn many athletic hats over the past half-century.
The Marysville native has been involved in high school sports in one way or another since 1970.
Whether it was coaching, officiating or serving in a support role with the MHS football program, Fox has been quite active.
Fox is a member of the Marysville High School Athletic Hall of Fame, the USA Softball Hall of Fame and the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Another honor will be bestowed upon him in a couple of months.
Fox has been named as an inductee into the Ohio Capital Conference Hall of Fame.
He is the first Marysville representative to be elected into the OCC shrine.
Fox will be inducted during a private ceremony at Medallion Country Club in Westerville on Monday, March 14.
The OCC Hall of Fame was established in 1997. Prior to this year, it has inducted a total of 58 former coaches and administrators from conference schools.
Fox will be inducted with former Hilliard High School head wrestling coach Ken Ash and Olentangy High School athletic director Jay Wolfe.
The former Monarch athlete forged a strong reputation as a high school basketball official and as the head coach of the Marysville High School softball team.
He officiated basketball games from 1970-2014 and worked in 14 state tournaments – 10 boys games and four for girls.
Fox served as the head softball coach for the Lady Monarchs from 1982-1998, compiling a record of 288-99.
Marysville won the regional championship in 1993 and added another district title in 1995.
He earned coach of the year honors in the OCC five times and in the Central District on four occasions.
Fox returned to the Lady Monarch program in 2000 and has served as an assistant coach since that time.
He has been part of three regional runner-ups, two district champions and four district runners-up during that tenure with the program.
Fox has also served as the equipment manager for the Monarch football team for many years.
“Larry has been a huge part of Marysville and specifically the athletic department as a coach, equipment manager and basketball official for more than 50 years,” said Monarch athletic director Joey Day.
The school district will honor Fox between the junior varsity and varsity boys basketball games against Thomas Worthington on Friday, Feb. 4.
