The Marysville High School gymnastics team is looking toward its 10th season under the guidance of head coach Amber Calvert.
The veteran coach said the Lady Monarchs will be led by seven returning lettermen.
Those athletes include Briana Watkins, Chloe Baschnagel, Abbey Bates, Ashlyn Etherington, Avery Murphy and Abbi McLaughlin.
“We have a deep and talented team this winter,” said Calvert.
Lady Monarch athletes will compete in a variety of events, including floor exercise, parallel bars, vault and balance beam.
Rounding out the roster are Sara Weigand, Kelsey Murphy, Paige Hayes, Natalie Jordan, Elise Thompson, Melany More-Flores, Ella Bates, Audrey Spooner, Megan Gregory and Aubrey Smith.
“We have another deep team,” said Calvert. “It’s also an experienced team with young ladies who can compete in all four events.”
The 2021-22 campaign will mark Marysville’s second season in the Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division.
“It’s a difficult division,” said Calvert. “Dublin Jerome and Olentangy Berlin both qualified for the state tournament last year.”
The Monarch coach said the program has several goals for the season.
“We want to stay healthy and injury-free, average a team score of 132.0 and send an athlete to the state tournament,” she said.
