Fairbanks High School students John Pastryzk (left) and Mason Sines are members of the Hilliard Hockey Club. Fairbanks does not offer hockey as a sport, so both boys play for Hilliard, which includes players from each Hilliard high school. Pastryzk, a senior, plays center and has 11 assists and 10 goals for the season. As a goalie, Sines, a freshman, has posted 437 saves and compiled a 13-4-2 record (9-0-2 in the Ohio Scholastic Hockey League). Hilliard is currently ranked third in the state among high school hockey teams. The squad won the recent Columbus Blue Jackets Cup, which is the OSHL’s tournament. Hilliard defeated the Northeast Storm, 7-2, to claim the title. Hilliard will travel to Cleveland to compete in the USA Hockey state championships March 6-8 as the No. 4 seed.
