The Lady Monarch varsity softball squad ended its spring break trip to Myrtle Beach with a pair of victories.
Marysville (5-1) roughed up Breathitt, Kentucky, 10-0, and pounded Padua Franciscan of Ohio 16-0.
Abby Christian (3-0) and Tareyn Born combined for five strikeouts and two walks against Breathitt.
They allowed only a pair of base hits.
Abri Schmutz, Christian, Abby Gindlesberger, Camryn Harbold and Maya Segner each had two of the Lady Monarchs’ 12 hits.
Harbold, Christian and Gindlesberger each drove in two runs.

Born upped her record to 2-1 with the triumph over Padua.
She and Christian teamed for 11 strikeouts and one walk.
Marysville led 16-0 after its first three at-bats.
Haley Winans tallied a trio of hits.
Christian, Born, Schmutz and Avery Henry each notched two of the Lady Monarchs’ 16 safeties.

Marysville will return to action on Wednesday by traveling to Gahanna-Lincoln.
The Monarch jayvees recorded a 15-0 verdict over Breathitt.
Caitin Rigel was the winning pitcher.
Sienna Hutchins slugged a homer for the Junior Monarchs.

Panthers start season
Fairbanks’ baseball team has won two of its first three games of the 2022 season.
The Panthers beat a pair of teams from Pennsylvania on Sunday.
They edged Deer Lakes 10-9 and downed West Greene 3-1.
FHS fell to Oakwood (Ohio) 8-4 the following day.
Noah Rausch finished with three hits against Deer Lakes.
He also drove in a trio of runs.
Taylor Andrews started the game and was lifted for reliever Max Snyder.
Ryker Beaty, Evan Blumenschein and Brice Phelps each tallied an RBI during the triumph over West Greene.
Blumenschein went the distance on the bump to notch the victory.
Grant Rausch had two hits during the game against Oakwood.
Noah Rausch was tagged with the pitching loss.
Fairbanks will host West Liberty-Salem today.

Cardinals fall
Triad’s varsity baseball team opened the season with an 11-4 setback at the hands of Graham.
The Falcons plated five runs during the home half of the opening inning.
The Cardinals pulled to within 5-4 at the top of the second.
Graham padded its lead to 7-4 after the bottom of the second and added four insurance runs in the fifth.
Triad was limited to five hits, two from Diego Hernandez.
Derek Bails, Drue Instine and Gage Heitman each finished with one hit.
Wyat Cole started on the mound for the Cardinals and took the loss.
Ayden Spriggs, Ty Thomas and Heitman all pitched in relief.
Triad’s pitchers yielded 13 hits, fanned five and issued five walks.
The Cardinals will host Northeastern today.
